[KCFusion] background

2002-01-02 Thread Don Buck

Perhaps someone can
help me with this. I am using background images on my td tags to
give a nice effect. The problem is, it works fine when I am running it
locally, but when I put it out on the server and go to the page, only some of
the backgrounds show up. If Iresize, minimize or otherwise cause the
browser to re-render the page, they all show up. Is there a way to cause
the browser to wait until all the images are loaded?
Does anyone have any
suggestions? You can see the page out at

rds can be a bear. few questions. are the file on the same computer as the
server? If you look at the rds properties from the dropdown list
 in the file
browser does server name match the string you are using as the_server_url?
 here is an example mapping

 server: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\
 studio c:\inetpub\wwwroot\
 browser: http://localhost/

No it really does say 12:20 AM underneath received.
Having a little early morning fight with RDS.
As far as I know I have my server development mappings are set right
 Studio Path: RDS://the_server_url/C:Inetpub/wwwroot
 Server Path: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot
 Browser/URL Path: http://the_server_url
I can see the files but when ever I go to browse it tells me to add a
development mapping? Huh? What piece of arcane knowledge am I missing?

That's a good idea. I've never gotten RDS to work.

I couldn't live without it... number 1 feature of CF Studio imo. Makes
working with remote files as fast and simple as being there. Just think of
it as FTP, only faster. :)

I am using CFFile to upload files to my server:

 cfif isdefined(form.submitted)

 FILEFIELD=uploadfile
 DESTINATION=C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Test\images
 ACCEPT=image/gif, image/jpg

My problem is that I want to be able to move this file where I want at a
later date, without having to worry about changing the explicit

Is there a function that I can call to retreive the path of the calling

 Something like:

 cfset myDestination = #CFFilePath#\images

 which would create:

This seems like a function that should be there, but I can't find it. Any

[KCFusion] CFExecute

2001-08-06 Thread Don Buck

Has anyone had any luck with CFEXECUTE? I have an app that I wrote that
takes an Adobe FDF file, parses it to include new form data then creates a
new fdf file with a new name. The app accepts a parameter argument to
select for a new ID. The app works fine by itself. I can take a shortcut
and add the parameter and it creates the needed file. When I try to call it
from CfExecute:
nothing happens when I don't include an outputfile name
if I include a filename it creates an empty file of the outputfile's
name
if I include a timeout value it times out without anything
happening.
Any help?

Take
the UNION out of your query. Union is a function for combing the results
of two or more queries. It has no practical purpose for inserting data

Actually, the Form scope acts like a structure, so you can do things like

structKeyList(Form)

and

CFLOOP Collection=#Form# Item=i
The form variable #i# contains: #Form[i]#

What is the property for reading/writing the selected option in a select

That fixed what I needed. I see now that my problem was that I was calling
selectedindex instead of selectedIndex. This is what I was working on.
http://www.sharevalue.net/svsites. I wanted to set up a site so that I
could look at all the sites we have live. Checking the box makes it rotate
sites every 10 seconds. It still doesn't work in Netscape. I have trouble
with the object structure as it relates to select tags. Have you ever had
problems with that?

Going nuts friends,
I could swear that I have used this syntax in the past, but I can not get it
to work now.

In custom tag getResult.cfm there is a query that uses the caller scope to
make the query result set available to the calling page.

cfquery name=caller.qry.
select * from someTable
/cfquery

In the calling page I output
cfoutput query=qry

/cfoutput

Error message says that the value of the output tag does not refer to the
name of an available query. I also tried to cfset caller.qry = qry setting
the name value for cfquery name=qry and that fails too.
Any idea's.

Subject: [KCFusion] displaying a message to the user

Hi all. Here's my latest trial. I feel like I am so close, but I just
can't quite figure it out. I have a login prompt. When the use does not
log in properly, the action page directs the browser back to the login
prompt. I want to display a message to the user based on what they did
wrong. For example, if the user left the password field blank, I want the
message to say, No password supplied. I expect that I would want to
populate a variable within CFIF statement that evaluates what the user did
incorrect and reference that value on the calling page so that when it is
reloaded, if it is defined, the message is displayed. I just can't seem to
figure out what type of variable can be populated by an action page and
returned to a calling page. Do I have to use session variables? Thank you
so much.
 Jered

  Could you fix this please?

well the query is running inside of the custom tag. In order to get the
result set in the calling page you have to assign it to a scope shared by
the calling page.

RE: [KCFusion] escaping # in cflocation

2001-02-21 Thread Don Buck

The doubling of the pound sign works. I had problems for awhile at first
because I was sticking it before my url definitions.
cflocation url="UpdateLink.cfm##Top?Level=#url.Level#"
instead of
cflocation url="UpdateLink.cfm?Level=#url.Level###Top"
The later works.

I believe CF allows you to repeat instances of the # sign in order to make
it print literal characters. Try adding 1-2 extra pound signs.

Example: (UpdateNews.cfm##Top)

I have input tags(type="submit") that I have set the style property to
adjust the size.(style=width:"80") This works fine for IE but using
Netscape 4.7 the width does not change. How can I make it work correctly

I believe this is a browser-dependent function. Netscape will not let you
use the enter button to submit a form; Explorer will.

no form.field is generated.

It's most useful for people (like me) who haven't had time to learn
JavaScript, and have modest enough needs that adapting other scripts is
acceptable. I've used numerous IRT scripts and never found one with a bug or
error.
