Re: Get length of .WAV file

2008-06-01 Thread Dave Phillips
As a follow up, I installed the CFX tag and it is returning 0 seconds on my
.WAV files, so it doesn't seem to work anyway. I really need to find a way to
identify the length in time of a .WAV file. Please let me know if you know how.

Thanks!

Get length of .WAV file

2008-06-01 Thread Dave Phillips
Hi all,

What is the best (easiest) way to get the length of a wav file. I don't want
the file size, I can get that with CFDIRECTORY. I want the length of the audio
in time.

I found a tax called cfx_audioinf here on the HOF, but it became obsolete in
2003. I don't know why it's obsolete, but I'm wondering if it's because there
is a better way to retrieve that info now.

I'd like to avoid having to install a CFX if at all possible. Please let me
know.

And yes, the file is located on the server.

Thanks!

Dave

To be accurate, it understands those carriage returns just fine. What it
doesn't understand is that, on a Mac, a carriage return is used alone to
represent a new line. On Windows, the sequence of a carriage return and a
line feed are needed to represent a new line.

Re: Any Disadvantages to running CF atop J2EE?

2008-06-01 Thread Barney Boisvert
ColdFusion ALWAYS runs top a JEE container. The most significant
difference between JEE mode and "standalone" mode is how the
directories are organized. I run all my personal CFs on top of
Tomcat, except on my server where I run CF Standard, and therefore
must use standalone mode (on JRun). At the office, we also run
everything on Tomcat, both development and production.

In both cases, Tomcat was selected because it's free, widely used,
quite flexible, and actually supports a modern Servlet spec. Pretty
much anything except JRun should meet the last three, and everything
but WebSphere and WebLogic will meet all of them. Tomcat isn't
officially supported, but JBoss is, and Tomcat is JBoss's web
container. Picking Tomcat standalone means no support, but it is a
tested platform (via JBoss). We've not had any issues aside from CF
doing generally non-JEE stuff, which would happen regardless which
container is used.

proposal

2008-06-01 Thread Toby King
Hi All

I had been working on a proposal over the last 3-4 days and it was in a final
draft for a potential client in Sydney.

I have had the unfortunate experience of having my house broken into and have
had stolen both a server and 2 laptops (one with the final proposal) stored on
it.

I have to get the proposal in and submitted by the close of business Monday
(today).

I'm wondering if any people out there would be able to assist by allowing me to
have access to some successful proposals that they may have sunmitted
themselves for developing an ecommerce site using Cartweaver as part of their
solution.

Many thanks in advance.

I've read up about a lot of advantages of having CF run on top of a J2EE

distinct disadvantages?

Are there any particular advantages to picking a specific J2EE platform

Especially since the standalone version runs on a version of JRun?

How many folks have gone this route? Anybody had any regrets doing it?

that makes a difference.

Any information / advice is appreciated.

The guy before me was allergic indenting.

This is 2 lines of his code:

He also did not grasp the concept of variable scopes:

An that is the *least* of his bad habits.

Notpad has an odd relationship to line-feeds and carriage returns -- at
least in my experience... If I copy something from notepad to paste into
an html textarea, then the pasted text contains all sorts of hard
returns where it shouldn't. It's similarly unable to understand the
carriage returns inserted into documents on Macs, so when you open those
you get one big mass of text with no returns at all. I was really
frustrated when I commented to Sean Corfield that a readme for something
he distributed was all horqued up, only to have someone else point out
to me that Wordpad would read it properly.

Well 2 things... First I use SVN to manage all my code changes, so in
the unlikely event that Dreamweaver did corrupt a file, recovery is
pretty simple. Secondly, the odds of file corruption via Dreamweaver are
only very slightly greater than the odds of file corruption due to
hardware failure.

Your most likely going to have to edit the jvm.config file by hand.
For cfmx7 the file is usually located in coldfusionmx7/runtime/bin.
If your lucky the cfadmin made a backup of the last good version.
Otherwise you will have to fix the file by hand.

What version of CF are you running?
Which OS is in on?
Is CF installed in Standard or JREE mode?

sure how to fix. I have accidentally placed in the java classes the wrong
directory path name. The error in the logs is stating "NoClassDefFoundError" -
so I'm pretty sure that is it.

The question - how do I remove the incorrect directory path from the system and
allow it to once again start up?

Thanks for you expertise!
