Re: HMail server
Al, Be sure to revoke and reissue the SSL certificate you use with hMail in addition to the upgrading and changing passwords you did. If you don't there is a possibility the attacker can impersonate your server. (I run hMail too - it's simple but seems to work well.) Re: HMail server
We use either Hmail mostly for SMTP, sometimes SmarterMail which is free for SMTP also. RE: HMail server
Which email server do you guys use? We use Visnetic Email server. It may be end of life but still works pretty flawlessly. all of a sudden it sent out 2 million emails from one of my accounts. I would suspect that they guessed or hacked your account password to authenticate unless you are only relying on SSL to allow relaying. We get this all the time where over a period of months we see attempts to guess passwords on SMTP accounts then the low entropy passwords gets guessed and they authenticate and attempt to send out mail. Most of the time we catch it because we only allow local domains and accounts to forward email thru our outbound server. We have had to increase password complexity and length on all accounts to 12 characters to prevent further attacks. Dennis Powers UXB Internet - A website Design and Hosting Company P.O. Weird URL request parameters
Does anyone know or have a clue as to what is generating these requests? /index.cfm?fid=2889Result:+used+x_fields.txt;+chosen +nickname+%22pn49o0w5bs%22;+registered+%28registering+only+mode+is+ON%29; They are coming from various IP's in Europe, southeast Asia, Ukraine and Middle USA on a nearly regular basis. That country set looked suspicious so I googled registering+only+mode+is+ON The top results were at a blackhat seo site, so I googled the tool mentioned there. It's a bot trying to post spam to forums. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XRumer On Mon, May 12, 2014 at 6:35 PM, UXB denn...@uxbinternet.com wrote: Does anyone know or have a clue as to what is generating these requests? /index.cfm?fid=2889Result:+used+x_fields.txt;+chosen +nickname+%22pn49o0w5bs%22;+registered+%28registering+only+mode+is+ON%29; They are coming from various IP's in Europe, southeast Asia, Ukraine and Middle USA on a nearly regular basis.
