RE: cfx_imagecr3

2014-01-05 Thread Christian N. Abad

Russ:

There is no 64-bit version of the ImageCR3 tag, but there is a ImageCR3
Windows Service you can run on 64-bit servers that works well as a drop-in
(e.g. no code changes) replacement.

I believe this is the general process that we used for one of our Clients.
(Note: I copied most of this from a Stack Overflow page.)

--- Begin Copy from Stack Overflow ---
It appears that the C++ CFX tax is 32 bit and is compatible with ColdFusion
64-bit version. Efflare currently has a beta installer on their VIP download
site, cfx_imagecr_3_service_beta_081030.exe, which is the Java tag.

This was a bit tricky to figure out at first, but once you install the beta
make sure you follow these steps:

1. Install the Beta Installer to C:\efflare\ (Do not install to C:\Program
Files (x86)!)

2. Start the windows service 'Efflare ImageCR 3 Service'

3. Open the CF Administrator then go to Java and JVM, in the ColdFusion
Class Path add:
{application.home}/wwwroot/WEB-INF/lib,C:/Efflare/imagecr3.jar

4. Restart ColdFusion

NOTE: The class path if for the default ColdFusion 10 install. The first
path must point to the directory where you have a cfx.jar file. If you get
the error -java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError Exception
com/allaire/cfx/CustomTag it is because the class path is not pointing to
where the cfx.jar file is located at.
--- End Copy from Stack Overflow ---

I also have a copy of the cfx_imagecr_3_service_beta_081030.exe
installation file, if you need. (Just email me off-list...)

Please let me know if you have any questions, or need additional
information.

Good Luck!

hey chaps,

So I have a client with a site which uses this tag, but we only have the
32bit version which is no good as they are now on a 64bit server.
Have tried to buy a new copy from EFFALRE but it seems efflare have gone out
of business (several years ago so I have been told) and any orders you make
via the website never get processed

does anyone have a copy of cfx_imagecr3 64bit they can share ?

ColdFusion 10 and FileMaker 11?

2012-07-20 Thread Christian N. Abad

Folks:

I need to setup a DSN in ColdFusion 10 (running on 64-Bit Windows Server
2008 R2 Standard) for a FileMaker 11 database.

I understand that I have the options of either using ODBC or JDBC for this.
However, I haven't been successful with my attempts thus far.

Does anyone have experience doing this, and if so, what do you suggest?

Thanks in Advance!

Not that my opinion really matters here, but I don't see the problem.

That is a CF-Jobs list, and the posts are listing real jobs. Is that not the
content that the majority of subscribers of CF-Jobs are wanting? I would
hardly call posts with legitimate content spam simply because a single
person (who isn't interested in the content anyway) doesn't like it. The
content is true to the purpose of the list. No big deal.

Split Zip Archives Using CFZIP or Similar?

2012-03-13 Thread Christian N. Abad

Folks:

Is it possible to split a large Zip Archive into smaller, predefined, file
sizes using CFZIP or something similar? (I've reviewed the docs, and it
doesn't seem like CFZIP natively supports this functionality...)

For example, instead of one 100MB Zip File, I would end up with four 25MB
Zip Files.

Any thoughts on how to best accomplish this?

Build a zip file by file, and check the size. When it hits 25mb, go to a new
one. This will be slow due to file io, but probably acceptably
slow.

Christian,

This is a long shot but you might have the problem detailed here:

http://www.coldfusionmuse.com/index.cfm/2010/2/24/CF8-Install-Windows-2003-6
4bit

The post relates to CF 9 - but the bug or problem is really about
installanywhere ... so maybe you will be able to figure it out from that.

Folks:

I am unable to get the ColdFusion Builder 2 Hot Fix 1 to install correctly
on my stand-alone instance of ColdFusion Builder 2 that's running on my
64-Bit Windows 7 SP 1 workstation.

When I download and double-click the installer, it decompresses the package
contents into my TEMP directory, and then just quits... (Literally, the
InstallAnywhere... window that opens when I double-click the installer
closes when the status bar reaches 100%. Nothing else seems to happen.
Period.)

What can I do to troubleshoot? Are there any installation logs to look at?
(Perhaps something specific to InstallAnywhere?) NOTE: I have reviewed all
of the Windows logs (e.g. Event Viewer) and don't see anything related to
ColdFusion Builder 2 Hot Fix 1 at all...

Also, is there a way to manually run the Hot Fix after it has been
decompressed into my TEMP directory? (The files created from the
InstallAnywhere decompression seem to remain behind fully intact in my TEMP
directory…)

Bottom Line - I really need to install this Hot Fix, since I cannot use the
broken Search and Replace feature that's addressed in this release (FYI:
That's Bug # 2918920)...

RE: Method Opinion

2011-08-01 Thread Christian N. Abad

Robert:

Personally, I would use a Many to Many lookup table, such as your
suggestion # 1 below.

This lookup table (e.g. userPolls ) would contain two (2) columns that are
Foreign Keys. The columns userID and pollID hold the Primary Keys of
the Users table and Polls table, respectively.

Some additional information can be found here:

Subject: Method Opinion

Curious as to what you all think is the best method for something. I have a
table that contains a list of polls. I have a user table that contains a
list of possible persons who may complete the poll (it requires log-in
access). I want to present a poll only one time so users can't complete a
poll more than once, so I need to maintain a list of users who have
completed a poll.

I see two ways I can do this:

1. I can create a cross reference table that keeps users ID and Poll IDs
(of users/polls completed), then use an SQL NOT IN to select polls for users
who are NOT IN the completed poll table.

2. I can add a field in the POLLs record and put a delimited list of User
IDs who've complete the poll, then not select any polls where the COMPLETED
field contains the user ID of a given user.

There are about 1,500 users. There will probably be not more than 10 polls
going on at any one time. Poll history will be maintained for about 60 days.
Thus, there may be thousands of COMPLETED records.

Given that, is one of these methods better than the other, and if so, why?

Should I use a delimited list in the POLL record, or should I use a
cross-reference table with a join and NOT IN select... or should I do
something different.

Thanks

RE: Development Apps - Does anyone use homesite still?

2010-03-09 Thread Christian N. Abad

Ben:

I'm in the same boat as you! (...Seriously...)

I've been using HomeSite+ (HS+) for YEARS, since I started working with CF
4.52! I have tried repeatedly to make the transition to Aptana / CFEclipse
and now CFBuilder countless times, only to come back running to HS+. It
just works and it works FAST! It's PERFECT for me...

My biggest issues with moving away from HS+ is that the functionality that I
use the most, like Select Full Tag and Edit Tag don't work nearly as
well - or at all - in the aforementioned other editors. It's plain and
simple; I can't work efficiently without this functionality.

However, I've been actively participating with the CFEclipse Team via their
Google Group and they have been listening to my feedback and even
incorporating my needs into their nightly builds. In other words, they are
listening and actually implementing what I need. We're not 100% there yet,
but we're getting closer with each nightly build. With any patience
diligence, I will be able to move to CFEclipse within a month or two...

So, my advice to you is to join their Google Group and present your needs to
the CFEclipse Team, and who knows - maybe they will build you the tool that
you need. http://groups.google.com/group/cfeclipse-users

Just my $.02!

Hi, Ive been using homesite for my coldfusion development now for years

much more time trying to get used to the apps that i end up reverting when

the circle begins again. (I also spend ages trying to make everything look
like homesite :-))

I really would like to change to something more up to date, does anyone
have any suggestions / tips on how and what i should use (especially for
MURA development).

I also use a mac which i flip between dreamweaver and cfbuilder any ideas
there?

Also and please nobody scream, but i do a lot of my live development lately
of ftp (or sometimes RDS) - my dev work is mainly for my works local
intranet. So Homesites FTP is awesome compared to modern apps (they just
don't make em like they used to :-).

Make HomeSite+ Open Source? (WAS: RE: Development Apps - Does anyone use homesite still?)

2010-03-09 Thread Christian N. Abad

Folks:

I had two other thoughts on this topic:

1) Will Adobe, or anyone else, be releasing the ColdFusion 9 Extensions for
HomeSite+ the way they had for CF MX and CF 8? (I think not, since Adobe
has officially ceased development of it per
http://www.adobe.com/products/homesite/.)

2) If not, is there someone in the community who would be willing to do
this?

3) If not, then is there someone in the community who is interested in
developing HomeSite+? (Since Adobe has officially ceased development,
perhaps it could be made and Open Source project?)

Okay, so that was three (3) thoughts! :-)

What does everyone think?

Thanks, All!

to swap to eclipse or (more lately) cfbuilder but i find that i spend so
much more time trying to get used to the apps that i end up reverting when
i need to get some work done quickly, then im hooked back on homesite and
the circle begins again.

Thanks in advance

Ben

Greg (AHPHosting.net) is giving me the option to move from my current
box to a 64bit windows with more power (by far). Of course, i'm taking
it. :)

That being said, the site will be down for a few minutes tonight
while I upgrade everything to CF9 on 64bit. At the same time I'm
looking into moving all of my iMS stuff over to smartermail (part of
the package). I'll let everyone know how that goes as well.

Should be lots of fun. :)

Looking for Select Full Tag Functionality in Aptana / CFECLIPSE

2009-12-20 Thread Christian N. Abad

Howdy, Folks!

I am looking to upgrade to Aptana / CFECLIPSE, and desperately need it to
have the Select Full Tag functionality like HomeSite does.

So, this brings me to my questions:

1) Does this functionality exist in the newer versions of the Aptana /
CFECLIPSE IDE?

2) If not, then is there some similar type of functionality that will allow
me to select an entire tag and perform an indent / outdent?

3) If the answer is no to questions 1 and 2, then is there a way to have
the Aptana / CFECLIPSE extended to provide this functionality? (I'm willing
to pay a developer to create this functionality for me.)

Bottom Line - The only thing that is holding me back from moving to Aptana /
CFECLIPSE from HomeSite is the lack of the Select Full Tag functionality.
I'm willing to pay someone to extend Aptana / CFECLIPSE to include my
requisite functionality. That's it!

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Folks!

mod_rewrite / ISAPI filter (AKA: search engine friendly urls)

2006-04-10 Thread Christian N. Abad
Forgive me if this is somewhat off topic. (I understand this is not CF
specific, but more general.)

I have a client that needs to implement mod_rewrite, ISAPI filtering or some
other URL filter to allow their websites to be more search engine friendly.
One site is written in PHP, the other ASP. (Again, I know these aren't CF
sites, but the basic principles should still apply.)

Does anyone have experience with this?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

UPDATE column with NULL values?

2001-04-02 Thread Christian N. Abad

Hey, Folks!

I'm having difficulty updating a Date/Time column in an Access db.

When I attempt to execute this SQL in a CFQUERY tag, I receive the
following error :

SQL :

UPDATE table_name
SET column_name = NULL

ERROR :

ODBC Error Code = 22005 (Error in assignment)

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Invalid character value for cast
specification (null)

QUESTION :

Does anyone know how to update a Date/Time column with NULL values using
ODBC and Access?

Thanks!

Parsing a text field from a db...

2001-03-19 Thread Christian N. Abad

Folks:

Here is today's challenge :

I have a database that stores Library articles (how-to's).

I need to be able to store ColdFusion markup in the database and have it
parsed once the row is retrieved from the database.

For example, I store the following text in the db:

img src="#application.imagesRoot#/library/image.gif"

Then, I retrieve this Library item from the db with a query and display it,
like this :

cfoutput#myQueryName.article#/cfoutput

PROBLEM : The text that is written to the html file the LITERAL text from
the database. Instead, I need to have this text parsed and interpreted as
CFML.

Does this make sense?

Any ideas?!

Thanks!

Efficiency Question

2001-03-16 Thread Christian N. Abad

Hello, All!

I have a quick question :

I am currently working on a ColdFusion application for a client of mine, and
had a question about efficiency.

Scenario :

I have dozens of news articles, how-to guides, etc. that are all text-based
and currently stored in a db in memo fields. These articles could be
accessed often, and the same user may view several of these in one sitting
(session).

Question :

What is the most efficient way to access this info?

1) Create a session-scoped array to store the titles and copy for the
articles. (Running the query only once.)

2) Simply cache the query.

3) Let the user hit the db every time the page loads and they request a
document.

My goal here is to maximize efficiency and minimize db access. I imagine
that if I have dozens of simultaneous users, that creating session arrays
might be taxing to the server. Conversely, if I hit the db server every
time the user requests an article, is this excessive?

Setup :

ColdFusion 4.5 Server
Access 2000 (development)
SQL Server (production)

Any ideas, thoughts or comments?

Thanks in Advance!
