Re: Stolen server.
The company i work for had that happen to us quite a few times.. (nurses had thier laptops stolen from them) what we did was exactly what jonese said to do.. Contacted each person by mail.. signed them all up for free credit monitoring for a year, gave them numbers to equifax, transunion Experian.. also gave them information on how to safeguard their information. We then switched to a 3rd party vendor to install some pretty sweet stuff on all of our laptops desktop pcs.. Even if the person re-spins the hard drive, or replaces the hard drive.. we are still able to track where they are at by their IP address.. On 7/7/07, Dave Watts [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I don't suppose they used Vista with Bitlocking on the HDD? They were still on windows2000 server. That would have been smart. I will recommend it for the new system.. Boy was this aggravating. Since Vista is not a server OS, I would not recommend its use for this purpose. If you want disk-based encryption, there are all sorts of proven applications that will give you similar functionality. For example, I use Truecrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org/), which is a free, open-source disk encryption application. I don't use it to secure the entire contents of my hard drive, though, so if my laptop was stolen and someone took the time to determine my password (which is pretty easy to do in most cases if you have physical control of the machine), they would be able to gain access to the unencrypted stuff. I believe that Bitlocker encrypts the whole drive, but haven't played with that at all. That said, these things are of questionable utility on a server, which requires access to disk volumes by various running processes with constant logins, etc. The better approach is to take care of your physical security problems. If your client can't secure their own servers, they should outsource that to a hosting provider who can. Why not just by the Alagad image tool, which you can upload photos and do the same image manipulation that flickr does? Re: RTF
I would like to use word to save as html, but i have users who are uploading the file and have a hard time figuring that out.. It is just easier for them to upload a single file. Thanks for the tips though :-) On Wed, 7 Jun 2006 20:57:45 -0600, Denny Valliant wrote Use word, save as html, clean it up, export it. That's usually the answer, but not very helpful if you need to do it on a server. Since it's just plain text, it should be pretty easy to write a parser, at least a basic one. There is a good book on RTF, it's pretty much the only one out there, can't remember the name. The first couple of chapters are available on the web, and would get you through the basic parsing of an RTF. Don't know of any utils off hand, but if you find one, holler- I rather like RTF for some reason. :D On 6/7/06, Jason Radosevich [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, I am trying to convert a RTF file to HTML for a online Newsletter. RE: SOT: tr and style=border...
you probably could nest the tables, and style the nested table. The W3 validator will accept that.
