Hi Andrew, Thanks for reply.inFact i am using Cf for long time.i know java as well. but i never used java in cf application practcally, (for eg,know that stringBuffer(JAVA) class make faster for reading and writing files) i like to extend CF with java or .net.i am looking for resources like when and where it is useful. can u provide some resources on this. Currently only BlueDragon supports .Net until CF8 is released and CF8 will support both out of the box and I will not comment on BueDragon I think it is one or the other. Someone will correct me if I am wrong there. And it is upto your needs, what are you looking at developing. CFML is a scripting language for Web development, .Net and Java are more than that, and because there is a huge development base there might be an application like jasper reports or something that you might want to leverage of. So then you follow the API's of that and then intergaret that into your application. I think you need to be more specific on what you want to do, or go away and develop in another language as your not clear on what CF is. Re: You think you know OOP.. but you don't
Hi Jonathan, if it is two tier architecture, with out OOP knowledge u can build CFML web sites . if you want to seperate business logic from presentation layer and data layer,u have to go for CFCs. it is worth to follow OOP concepts ,it saves ur programmers time(Inheritence) and gives security(abstraction) and reduce the reccurance of coding(polymorphism). there is no rule that u have to implement coldfusion on oops concepts. u can implement on procedural code,if u dont have skilled programmers and if it is simple application. hope the following link make you sense. http://www.quackit.com/coldfusion/tutorial/coldfusion_components.cfm Thanks Srinivas On 3/23/07, Jonathan Block [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Why do so many articles get published in the CFMX world about OOP. Re: Site-wide redirect?
Hi Andy You can add error tag in the Application cfm ,and include the code that if error is missing template ,you can redirect the page to index.cfm Srinivas On 3/7/06, Andy Matthews [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I recently redesigned my personal website, moving from 10 or so individual files, to a single main template. Those files have been deleted as I don't like clutter in my directories. Problem is that now, search engines are still looking for those files. I'm wondering if it's somehow possible, using CF, to code a sitewide redirect back to index.cfm from any missing page. Anyone? !//-- andy matthews web developer ICGLink, Inc.
