Re: MAX 2005 - things to do in Anaheim

2005-08-11 Thread Brian Klaas
If you're going to stay a couple extra days, get out of Anaheim/LA proper
and head to the coast. You could go north towards Santa Barbara and San
Louis Obsispo and the Southern California wine country (where much of the
movie Sideways was filmed). You could go South and drive along Highway 1
through Huntington, Newport and Laguna Beaches and on in to Dana Point and
Carlsbad and then San Diego. I highly recommend that you spend at least an
afternoon along Highway 1 (in spite of the 5pm traffic jams around Laguna
Beach). It's an awesome drive with great places to stop and eat and drink.

CFCommunity?

I don't know whether you've been to MAX before or noticed, but Michael and Judy
put on what's called the CF-Community Suite at MAX every year. I think that is
what he was referring to.

As for CF-Community being full of garbage, well that's your very incorrect

What are some things to do/see while in Anaheim besides Disney stuff?

Tons and tons of Touristy stuff.

Just going down the main drag, off the top of my head; there's the Wax museum,
Radio and Television museum. Two dinner shows, one medieval knight based the
other American old west based.

Hit the Anaheim/Orange County Chamber of Commerce and/or tourist board I'm sure
there is plenty of info on how to spend way too much money.

Re: MAX 2005 - things to do in Anaheim

2005-08-10 Thread Ken Ferguson
Well, when you're in Anaheim, you're basically in LA, so you just might
be able to find one or two things going on!
http://www.losangeles.com/
http://www.anaheim.org/index.html
http://www.laparks.org/dos.htm
http://www.la.com

Check the schedule at www.nhl.com to see if you'll be able to catch a
Kings or Ducks game.

The Icehouse in Pasadena and Comedy Underground in Santa Monica are both
greatness. There's tons of great live music to be heard in LA too.
Outdoor venues, indoor, whatever. There are plenty of local bands to see.

If you're one of the guys bringing family along, head out to Carlsbad
and check out Legoland.

Wake up early and drive 1-2 hours to Joshua Tree. If you climb, I don't
need to say any more than that. If you don't, hit up
http://www.joshuatreerockclimbing.com/ for their 1-day class and you'll
have the time of your life.

Best of all if you've got $1,000 to spare, head to Fullerton and fly in
a dogfight at www.aircombatusa.com! (Even better if you get a group of
guys from MAX to head out with you!)

Lots of strong golf courses in the LA area if you're so inclined.

You'll have no dificulty finding things to do, that's for sure.

Also, you're only about 1-2 hours from San Diego, so that opens up
another million or so possiblities that many would argue are even better
than LA.
