Re: Open Source ColdFusion CMS
I will put my vendor hat on very briefly. Feel free to take a look our our CMS. www.besavvy.com. There are some video tutorials up there for basic tasks and I am happy to talk off list to answer questions or provide demos. It isn't open source but it is very inexpensive for developers/clients compared to the other CF CMS options that are not open source. Taking vendor hat off now. That said there are a number of open source CF options as well. Brian Rinaldi put together a great list of OS options. http://www.remotesynthesis.com/cfopensourcelist/index.cfm?event=public.home&categoryID=82AC7342-BC7E-906C-6F0488877594574B He has a great blog updating everyone on Open Source related topics weekly as well. My first choice for this would be Contribute - it's the ideal product for this sort of organization. It's not really a traditional CMS; there's no required server component. Nevertheless, it requires little end-user training, it performs better than browser-based editing solutions, and it requires no infrastructure or server setup. Re: Open Source ColdFusion CMS
I don't know how FarCry was a few years back - it's the first time I work with it. In my opinion it is a good tool. It might seem a bit overwhelming at first glance and sometimes it seems to be constructed in an overly complex way. But an experienced CF programmer will find his way around fairly quickly. The only real 'negative' we found/find is that the updates seem to be a bit, ahm, let's say undisciplined. We currently use FarCry 3.02 - and while there are still a few open issues that Deamon could work on...they already work on FarCry 4. I'd prefer to sort out 95% of the FC3 issues, before moving on to FC4. But generally it's easy to fix the most annoying problems yourself.
