Rick- I've been tinkering with the same kind of thing. I haven't gotten very far though. My thing is that I take a ton of pictures and have people ask me if they can get copies. I'd like to do something where I could upload via ftp or something and then have galleries created where people can view thumbnails, a large view and then have the option to download the full photo if they'd like so that they can get prints made. I was thinking it'd be cool to have multiple accounts as well so other people could do the same. It all makes sense in my head, just hasn't made it into CF yet. Let me know if you find anything good. RE: CF-based photo sharing app?
I've never seen a robust CF photo sharing app. My most recent adventure, since I'm using a VPS with Bluedragon and PHP, is to use DAlbum. It's PHP, but who cares, it works! It is totally file driven with no database. FTP the files to the server and run a php script to re-index. Pretty simple. A CF equivalent could easily be written, but who has the time... This could be an option if you have access to PHP. There are several more robust PHP examples as well. Re: CF-based photo sharing app?
We're doing this right now with flash frontended image galleries for our clients. They login to an CFML admin area, make photo categories, upload images {1} at a time, Using Ricks imageCFC this resizes them to all required sizes in one swoop, then they assign categories to a gallery page. Click commit to site and this creates a static html page with the flash gallery, xml for the names, locations etc. and cfftp those files over to their website. All you need is imagecfc and a database to store the rest. Half the battle is the code below as an example of uploading a new image. I'd have to do a bunch of cleaning to get that working off-site but if you still have troubles finding something that works for you, hit me up at cfunited. cffile action=UPLOAD filefield=IMAGE destination=#ClientTMPFolder# nameconflict=MAKEUNIQUE accept=image/gif, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, image/png !---NOW RESIZE THE IMAGE AND MOVE IT TO THE RIGHT LOCATION --- cfset imagecfc = createObject(component, imagecfc) !---ARE WERE GOING TO INITIALLY SWRINK SMALL IMAGES BY Y or X--- cfif val (TRIM(swfStuff.SScale_X_Y)) IS 'X' cfset TheImage = imageCFC.scaleX(, #ClientTMPFolder#\#SERVERFILE#, #ClientSmallFolder#\#latest.maxID#.jpg, #swfStuff.SWF_Small_x#) cfelse cfset TheImage = imageCFC.scaleY(, #ClientTMPFolder#\#SERVERFILE#, #ClientSmallFolder#\#latest.maxID#.jpg, #swfStuff.SWF_Small_y#) /cfif !---ARE WERE GOING TO INITIALLY SWRINK LARGE IMAGES BY Y or X--- cfif val (TRIM(swfStuff.LScale_X_Y)) IS 'X' cfset TheImage = imageCFC.scaleX(, #ClientTMPFolder#\#SERVERFILE#, #ClientLargeFolder#\#latest.maxID#.jpg, #swfStuff.SWF_Large_x#) cfelse cfset TheImage = imageCFC.scaleY(, #ClientTMPFolder#\#SERVERFILE#, #ClientLargeFolder#\#latest.maxID#.jpg, #swfStuff.SWF_Large_y#) /cfif cfset TheImage = imageCFC.scaleX(, #ClientTMPFolder#\#SERVERFILE#, #ClientDownload1Folder#\#latest.maxID#.jpg, 800) cfset TheImage = imageCFC.scaleX(, #ClientTMPFolder#\#SERVERFILE#, #ClientDownload2Folder#\#latest.maxID#.jpg, 1024) cfset TheImage = imageCFC.scaleX(, #ClientTMPFolder#\#SERVERFILE#, #ClientDownload3Folder#\#latest.maxID#.jpg, 1280) !--- NOW SAVING IMAGE TO THE DATABASE --- -- Casey Dougall Web Applications Developer Ph: 518 743-9424 Fax: 743-0337 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mannix Marketing Inc. 10 East Washington St. Suite 1, Glens Falls, New York Marketing to New York State Destinations? Re: CF-based photo sharing app?
The big thing that I'd like it to do that it can't is to be able to read the directories I have on my server at home (where CF is also running) and build galleries and such automatically from that without having to upload. For that specific kid of functionality Bellalbum is quite good: http://www.bellavite.com/bellaalbum.cfm Massimo Foti Tools for ColdFusion and Dreamweaver developers: http://www.massimocorner.com ~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:243534 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4 Donations Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
RE: CF-based photo sharing app?
Well, the free edition limits the number of albums or photos or something. Plus, as others have mentioned, then you can't integrate it into another site. For the record (AFAIK) flickr is free for base users. You only have to pay if you want the Pro edition. I personally don't use Flickr because I wrote a photo gallery system for my own site. Why use something on someone else's site if you can do it yourself. !//-- andy matthews web developer certified advanced coldfusion programmer ICGLink, Inc. Damn that is pretty sweet.. doesn't do quite what I want but could probably be modified to do so... I want many users to be able to upload photos to a single photo share without having the ability to mess with anything else. But I'll try this, it looks pretty cool.
