Re: install problem

2006-01-25 Thread Andy Allan
I wasn't discounting it ... I know of people, like yourself, who's
problems have been sorted by it. I'm just saying that from experience
it isn't the only reason why the installer exits.

errrmm hope you didn't think i had discounted it, because it worked
excellently :-)

as a warning to anyone doing the same install, make sure the 127.0.0.1 is
included in trusted sites, and be prepared for a long long wait when the
odbc is being configured.

I would assume that once you have put the "InstallAnywhere
Self-Extractor" into the exceptions, that it will work for anything
built with that...but I don't have any personal knowledge of that...I
just remembered seeing that article when I was investigating a install
issue that turned out to be the ActiveX issue that Neil talked about
(this was on Server 2000, and it was a BlueDragon install...which also
uses InstallAnywhere).

A feature of Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 is "Data Execution

That won't resolve every issue with the installer exiting. As Neil
said, sometimes the only way to get it to work is to do a silent
install.

RE: Install problem on Solaris (install bug)

2002-12-17 Thread Stacy Young
We found the source of the problem.

When performing a fresh install of CFMX and then immediately applying the
Updater 2, the CF admin pages are precompiled but the admin is inaccessible.

The CFIDE was installed outside of the default location during installation
which may have tripped up the Updater process.

In order to fix it we had to remove the CFCLASSES directory, not just empty
it's contents. After restarting the service the admin was now accessible.

This problem wasn't apparent in our QA environment because we were
previously running CFMX before installing the updater 1 and 2 upgrades.

I've submitted a bug

Well, it sounds like you've got some serious problem with your machine. You
might try running the wsconfig tool from the command line, passing it the
necessary parameters. I think those parameters are described in the
documentation; your command line might look something like this:

\CFusionMX\runtime\bin\wsconfig -ws IIS -site W3SVC1 -map .cfm,.cfc,.jws

Run wsconfig -h for the command-line help.

If you've run an install, and that install has failed once, it will often
continue to fail due to NTVDM processes still running. There are two things
you can try:

1. Open Task Manager, go to Processes, find NTVDM.EXE if it's in there. Kill
it. Make sure that no other processes involved in the install are still
running either (things like SETUP.EXE, INSTALL.EXE, _INSTxxx.EXE).

2. Reboot the machine and try again. Make sure you're not running any MS
Office apps, including OSA.EXE - these things can interfere with installs,
making the install stop at 99% for a long time. Eventually, it will usually
get to 100%, if you wait long enough, but it's a pain.

RE: install problem on NT 2000

2001-02-16 Thread Simon Horwith

whenever I've seen an installer run to 99% and then hang (which has been a
few times), there's been a memory or CPU issue to blame.

Subject: install problem on NT 2000

Hello All,

Here's the challenge of the day. I have a CF45Pro CD in Oakland, CA. I've
transferred the install files to a web server in Georgia and I'm controlling
that server via PC Anywhere. I know that the CF45Pro install program will
work without the CD because I tried it here in Oakland, and it works fine.
But when I run the install prog on the machine in Georgia via PC Anywhere,
the program starts and the indicator hits 99% (program load) and then dies.

I've check the permissions on the server in Georgia to ensure I'm running
the install prog under an Administrator account - and that's fine.

So... anyone got any clues as to why the install prog would just die upon
start?

Please copy me directly as the matter is kind of urgent. Thanks! And did I
mention the free movie tickets (2) for anyone that gives the right answer?
:)
