You cannot upgrade the ExtJS library that is used by the CF8 Ajax components. Architecture of the Ext library was changed significantly between Ext 1.x and 2.x, and Adobe's Java implementation, which writes the javascript hooks for you when using the appropriate cf tags, would not work properly, were you to 'update' the internal library. If you want to use Ext 2.2, you have to write your implementation from scratch (which you'll want to do, if you want more advanced functionality).
