Stories? Yes, we want Stories! As part of the
celebration planned for the Community Playground at Stadium Place, we are
collecting stories and memories of the build and its impact on volunteers and
the neighborhoods. Please consider sending your story to us through the website
www.stadiumplayground.com or to Nancy Marbury at [EMAIL PROTECTED].  We plan to use
many of these stories in the program book for the celebrations. Do this "sooner
than later" and thanks for your participation.
(Deadline: July 1.)
Thanks!

Re: [Chat] BGE outage

2005-06-16 Thread Stephen J Gewirtz

Christine,

I did not get any notice either; I'm on the east (odd) side of the 3000
block of Guilford.  My guess is that the planned outage is is just for
a few blocks of Charles Village.  I know that my side of Guilford
sometimes is hit by unplanned outages that do not affect the other side
of the street.

Now that I see your newer posting that you are on the 2700 block of
Calvert, I suspect that it has to do with the sewer line that the City
is going to run across 27th Street.  BGE probably has to reroute the
electric line where it crosses 27th, if it crosses under the street.

Steve.

[Chat] BGE outage

I assume everyone else
got a notice from BGE about the 30-hour outage this weekend.

 Yes, that was 30 hours
that we will not have power, from 1:00 a.m. Saturday on.

Does this not seem like
an unusually long time to go without power?

That means no
air-conditioning, laundry, refrigeration, computers, television, etc.
etc.

I’m curious as to
whether anyone else is ruffled by this outage.

These fellows that live mid-block on the odd side of the 2800 block of St.
Paul have a webcam on their second floor. they have a sign in their front
yard garden that warns of the webcam. They told me that stuff stopped
disappearing out of their garden after they put the camera up! It is a
sorry day when you have to do something like that to keep your plants. I
solved theft of potted plants and garbage cans by writing in big black
letters "stolen from" and my address. Dawna

Be aware of flower thieves. Yesterday, some time during daylight hours,
someone stole about eight plants--roots and all--from the tree well in front
of my house.

These were bedding plants, about five-inches tall.

The thief might have been the same person who took the food for the post
office's food drive. It was also taken in daylight hours.
