Thanks to everyone for your advice on dealing with the city zoning
board. I gave him all the information I could, and hopefully the
hearing today will go in the neighborhood's favor.

Rob,

Is the property located in Charles Village? The Charles Village Civic Assn
has a longstanding policy of opposing conversions to multi-units for a number
of reasons, one of which is the increased demand for parking. Peter Duvall who
works for the CVCBD has been involved in many of these hearings.

2007-02-01 Thread Stephen J Gewirtz
It would not hurt to get neighbors to sign a petition opposing the
conversions. And police reports on the disturbances, if available,
would not hurt. But what is most important is to see whether the law
allows such conversion. The last hearing that I went to (about a house
on Guilford) began with the zoning board saying that it did not think
that it had the power to grant the request for more apartments than were
already there.  Also, get information about the parking situation there;
unless the houses have sufficient off-street parking, the conversions
may be illegal.

Steve.
