[Chat] Missing cat

2013-06-14 Thread Casey Miller
Hi everyone, our cat Ollie went missing today sometime between 4 and 6.
He's a long hair, grey and white male, and weighs about 15 pounds. His fur
is a little matted in a few places. He does not have a collar, but he is
fixed. Please let us know if you see him. Casey and Erin, 3003 Guilford,

[Chat] Lost cat!

2013-10-22 Thread Casey Miller
Last night our cat Sylvia got out, but we're not exactly sure when. She's
greyish/tan with long hair and green eyes, and she's probably got a few
mats in her tail. She's very friendly and will probably come right up to
anyone with food or their hand out to pet her. Please let us know if you
see her. Casey 443-690-0965, Erin 443-235-3040

Re: [Chat] notice re: sewer work

2014-01-29 Thread Casey Miller
Josh, a "trap" in a drain is the U-shaped piece, usually found underneath a
sink or built into a toilet, where water is "trapped" to prevent odors from
travelling back up the pipes and into the house. They also trap anything
dropped into the drain, like jewelry or the like, so that they are easily
recoverable and not lost to the sewer system. If you have a sink that is
used regularly (once a week or more) and a toilet with water in the bowl,
your traps probably aren't dry. I've included a link to an image here that
should hopefully clarify things a bit:
http://www.heppelthwaite.co.uk/unblock-a-sink.jpg

With regard to your sump, I would have to take a look at it to be
absolutely sure, but from what you described, yes, you should just be able
to unplug it.

I'm not a plumber, though. Just a guy who has experienced lots of plumbing
issues over the years.

[Chat] Radiators

2012-01-19 Thread Casey Miller
Does anyone have experience with steam radiators? I know they're supposed
to make some noise, but I've got a few that bubble, gurgle, and whistle all
night long and I'd rather not be forced to make the choice between being
warm and getting a good night's sleep. I've heard that the system may need
to be balanced, but I'm a complete novice to this stuff.

Thanks,

Re: [Chat] Radiators

2012-01-19 Thread Casey Miller
It's just the one pipe, so I guess it's steam. As for bleeding the
radiators, I thought that's what the newer valves screwed into the
upper-side of the radiator were for. Aren't they supposed to release extra
air? It really does seem like voodoo.

Re: [Chat] suspicious person

2012-02-01 Thread Casey Miller
This is a textbook scam. They take your info and sign you up up without
your consent and by the time you get your first bill you're none the wiser.
Don't show these people your bill or anything else!

I've linked a flyer that a community put up in Brooklyn to warn their
neighbors. In the case of this flyer just replace "ConEd" or "National
Grid" with BGE.
