So that means

We have to upgrade our hardware

Can't the SAMI modules provide this feature

Cisco is building GGSNs? Cool, didn't know that.

Re: [c-nsp] 512K routes approaching - have you adjusted your tcam settings

2014-07-28 Thread Mack McBride
I forgot about that.
The tcam settings on the Sup2T are dynamic.

Hi Mack,

I am wondering about including sup 2T?
As far as I see Sup2T has no static CAM partition anymore and therefore needs
no specific maximums set.

kind regards
Rolf

As many readers on this list know the routing table is approaching
 512K routes.
For some it has already passed this threshold.
For those that aren't familiar with the issues associated with passing
this threshold, I suggest the following two documents:

 http://www.ipv4depletion.com/?p=672

 http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-6500-serie
 s-switches/117712-problemsolution-cat6500-00.html

Effected devices include 6500s (including sup 2T), 7600s, nexus 7Ks
and many devices by other vendors.
This problem will likely impact us in some way over the next month
even if we fixed our devices because We connect to other services that
 have not prepared.

So be on the lookout for MLSCEF-SP-7-FIB_EXCEPTION messages in your logs.

[c-nsp] Cisco 7600 and 'show mfib' commands

2014-07-28 Thread John Neiberger
I'm at a new job and was looking at a few recent trouble tickets. I see
that TAC had them use variations of the 'show mfib' commands, like 'show
mfib linecard summary'. At my previous job, we had a few hundred 7600s but
I don't recall TAC ever directing us to use those commands. I took a peek
at them and it's not clear what I'm looking at.

When I see mfib, I assume multicast FIB. I can't really tell if that's what
I'm looking at or not, or the significance of the commands.

I wasn't able to find much good info about these commands on CCO. Do any of
you have any idea what these are really looking at? It seems that they
might be useful for troubleshooting linecard issues but I'm entirely
unfamiliar with them.

No. But talk to your favorite Cisco account team. They may be able to
have a talk with you on virtualized ASR 5k.

Re: [c-nsp] Cisco 7600 and 'show mfib' commands

2014-07-28 Thread Tony via cisco-nsp
Hi John,

Yes, mfib = multicast FIB.

Are the boxes in question running multicast ?  (hint: show run | i multicast)

What were the previous tickets about (or opened for) ?

I'm not sure why they would be used for anything other than troubleshooting
multicast traffic, it could be specific to a linecard if that was the problem
encountered.

regards,
Tony.

[c-nsp] Cisco 6880 - EVC/MPLS Limitations

2014-07-28 Thread Chris Jones
Hi All,

Trying to clarify some limitations surrounding the 6880X platform, in terms of
its support for MPLS and EVC. Specifically, the combination of the two of them.

From looking at the latest configuration guide (SUP2T/15.1SY) -
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/15-1SY/config_guide/sup2T/15_1_sy_swcg_2T/ethernet_virtual_connection.html#pgfId-1081503
 - it initially looks as though EVC is reasonably well supported - until you
get to the paragraph around restrictions. Specifically, what isn't supported
on EVCs seems to include EoMPLS, QinQ and Bridge Domain Routing.

In short - is it possible to terminate a pseudowire - or other MPLS L2
machinery - into an EVC, either directly, or via a bridge-domain, on the 6880?

Regards,

Chris
