Re: [cisco-voip] Phone equipment refresh?

2018-01-29 Thread Stephen Welsh
Thanks Matthew,

Obviously I’m biased, but MigrationFX was designed specifically for the
replacement of old for new phones. We invented a technique called Zero Touch
that means its as simple as swapping the old phone for a new one and
MigrationFX detected the change as ensures all configuration (including buttons
templates and user associations etc.) are mapped seamlessly. We recently added
a new ‘Migration Profile’ feature for more advanced scenarios i.e. button
template consolidation and site moves.

MigrationFX has now been used by 100’s of customers to migrate 10,000’s of
phones at a time as well as incremental replacements.

You can obtain a 1 year site license of MigrationFX for free when you trade-in
100 (or more phones, including non-Cisco phones) within a Migration Incentive
Program (MIP) thanks to Cisco.

For testing you can access MigrationFX with Cisco dCloud or simply download a
MigrationFX Lab License and test it in your own environment.

We have a stand this week at Cisco Live Europe (and will be in WoS in Cisco
Live US too) and as always Happy to host a WebEx to discuss in more detail.

Kind Regards

Stephen Welsh

I’ve never done it on a scale as you probably will, but Cisco is still offering

Get UnifiedFXs MigrationFX software and it can really be a breeze. That
software is really quote magical. I’m sure Stephen Welsh would be glad to show
you a demo. It was being given away for free once you got past a certain amount
of phone trade-ins but I can’t find the current docs on that right now. Either
way, well worth it.

Re: [cisco-voip] Phone equipment refresh?

2018-01-29 Thread Jeremy Bresley
None of those models are deprecated even in CUCM 12.0.  The phones
deprecated in 11.5 are the old Selsius models, and the really old
7902/05/10/12, 7920 wireless and the 7935 conference phones.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/11_5_1/fieldNotice/cucm_b_fn-deprecated-phone-models-1151.html
12.0 added the 7921 and 7970/7971 phones to the deprecated list. The
list for 12.5 is not published yet.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/12_0_1/deprecated_phones/cucm_b_deprecated-phone-models-for-1201.html

Talk to your AM/SE to find out what models will be deprecated in 12.5,
the last info I saw was that the list wasn't finalized yet, but they
were considering waiting for post 12.5 to deprecate any more phones (I
am not a PM, just an SE, this is subject to change, etc).  The next big
ones will probably be the 7940/60 as those run much older code than the
7941/42/61/62s, and the limited memory/flash on those phones makes
supporting new features very difficult.  The suggestion up-thread about
MigrationFX is a good one as well, talk to your Cisco account team about
the promos for getting on current phones, there's a lot of benefits to
doing so, especially if you're still on phones old enough not to be GigE
(MRA support, SIP based, much nicer screens, Bluetooth support on some
models, etc).

Re: [cisco-voip] Phone equipment refresh?

2018-01-29 Thread Lelio Fulgenzi

Ah - you're at the same precipice we find ourselves. You've got a boat load of
7900s out there. People wanting gigabit. Deprecations on their way.
Hookswitches breaking. No more inventory.

I think the best thing is to plan a line item in the budget that can be floated
year to year. The last thing you want is to spend money when you don't have to.
But also, to stop the migration mid stream. I think they also have to know that
these next batch of phones are not going to last as long as the 7940s.

If you are committed to gigabit to the desktop, then you'd have to choose
between the 7841 and the 8811 as the entry model phones. Since we want gigabit
plus others for our advanced set (of a two set system) I think we're gonna
stick with the 8800 series. The first color model is just a few bucks more than
the greyscale 8811.

You've got similar situations as us to contend with. Including people seeing
other people with better phones. It wasn't as visible with the 7942/62. With
the 7800/8800 it is. Especially with colour screens.

In the short term, I think we're gonna buy some refurbished 7942s to buy us
some time until we get a long term plan and budget in place.
