Re: [cisco-voip] MTP for Video?

Erick,

What codecs did you configure on the IOS box?

Also, you'll need to use codec passthrough on it for video to work. The
software MTPs do codec passthrough by default.

I'm trying to set up a trusted relay pointfor my VPN phones so that we can
get audio and video from VPN phone to VPN phone. For security reasons we
are not able to make changes to the ASA to enable direct VPN to VPN
communication. I have plenty of PVDM3 resources available.

If I use a software MTP, audio works as expected.

 Here is the 'odd' part.

I only have the option for Cisco IOS Enhanced Software Media Termination
Point. I can get a hardware MTP to register but it will not even connect
audio. I imagine I'm missing something obvious. I can't restart the media
streaming app during the day to see f that helps or not.

You might want to add additional dspfarm profiles for G.722 and G.729 in
case your calls are using those codecs instead. Also might be an issue
with the region your IOS MTP is in.

Setting codec passthrough did the trick. I'll set up additional profiles to
match our configuration globally.

Thanks for the heads up on the codec passthrough.
