You have both a main.inc, and a main.cvd. Thus those signatures are
 loaded twice.
This problem has been discussed on this list a while ago, look in the
 archives.

How does one get a main.inc directory? I thought it was having
ScriptedUpdates yes in the conf file and experimental code enabled at
build time but that doesn't do it.

I believe ScriptedUpdates is enabled by default on non-experimental
build as well, unless you disable it in clamd.conf.

[Clamav-users] Is safe to terminate freshclam with SIGKILL?

2007-06-05 Thread Javier Amor García
Hello,
in the process of the installation of a software package it need to
stop any running instanc of freshclam.
This was done with a invoke-rc.d stop clamav-freshclam. However it takes
several minutes and we want to speed up the process.
Now we use SIGKILL to stop it faster, but we don't know wether is safe
to do this or we may break anything.

Someone can clarify me this issue?

Many thanks,

Very strange, because it is a fresh zimbra install into a fresh
ubuntu, i usually don't have to modify ANY config file.
Also, the comment in the config file says:

# TCP address.
# By default we bind to INADDR_ANY, probably not wise.
# Enable the following to provide some degree of protection

# Default: disabled
# By default we bind to INADDR_ANY, probably not wise.
#TCPAddr 127.0.0.1

So, clamav shouldn't listen binding to INADDR_ANY?

Also, isn't strange that after the Reading databases from... i don't
get the following messages, like loaded signatures ?

Yes - I'd expected to see a wrong address there. It seems ok.

So with clamd running, telnet to the port and tell it to reload (use

Ok.
I tried to manually start clamd and telnet locally to it.

I think i got it, while doing this test.

It seems that manually starting Clamav is correctly listening on 3310,
after nealy 1 minute of CPU consumption (it is an old pc).
But if I tell zimbra to automatically start Clamav, it seems that some
sort of timeout occours and Clamav is restarted by Zimbra every 1-2
minutes or so.

I'll try to check if there is some sort of timeout. Thank you man, and
sorry, but i thought it was a Clamav related problem, but now it seems
that it is a timeout-related issue! :)

Bye,

main.inc is created only when a scripted update is applied. Since
main.cvd doesn't change often, you'll have a main.cvd until the next
update to that database is released.

main.inc is deleted if it's corrupted or if there is an update but
the scripted update file isn't available/can't be downloaded.

Create a subdirectory under /var/run like /var/run/clamav or /var/run/
amavis(d?) which is owned by the amavisd user and group, and create
your pidfiles under there. It is not desirable to make /var/run

I haven't tried it yet, but a while back someone e-mailed me a solution.
It's in the archives, but here it is again:

Hi,

as you have been the first one asking in the clamav-users list about a
workaround:

Craig Hockenberry found out what went wrong.
https://wwws.clamav.net/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=442

I removed every appearence of -arch i386 in the whole source. Once
before and once after ./configure (I think the latter is enough).
No problems to install and start 0.90.2 on Mac OS X Server 10.3 after this.

As I am no member of the clamav-list, could you please forward Craigs
solution to the others?

Regards
Frans

Since pkg-config was not found, configure has no way to get the headers and
libraries needed to compile with curl support (if any are needed, i.e.
`pkg-config --libs curl`).

Workarounds:

- - Build w/o curl support;
- - Add the libraries yourself, LIBS=... at the end of the configure
invocation.

Re: [Clamav-users] Error after upgrade

2007-06-05 Thread Jose Alf.
Christian,

Did you try to recompile clamscan?
Regarding freshclam, Are you sure you are running the
new version? Maybe an old copy still exists...
Check for broken links in /usr/lib/libclamav*

I've seen similar issues in the past. Hope this helps.

Jose

I agree. The load speed for 0.92 had me considering
 rolling back to 0.88,
but 0.91rc1 is a tremendous improvement. Thanks for
 a great service.

I had trouble with 0.90.2; amavisd-new was unable to
scan files and my mail queue started to grow very
quickly, so I went back to 0.90.1. I applied patches
to close the security vulnerabilities published
recently with CAB, CHM y PDF files. If someone is
interested a source rpm is available. I would like to
test 0.91, but I will be busy for the next two weeks.

Jose

Re: [Clamav-users] Freeze after reading db ?

2007-06-05 Thread Jose Alf.
Hi Marco,

I don't use Zimbra, but I use postfix and amavis and I
had the same experience with both 0.90.2 and 0.90.3. I
had to go back to 0.90.1. I did a post on this before.
