Re: Stus-List bus heater

2015-09-26 Thread Graham Collins via CnC-List

Hi Mike
That should work well. Two comments:
1) make sure stuff can't shift in the locker to contact the fan blades -
some of their heaters don't have grills over the back of the fans.
2) you should consider where the air is going to get sucked from as you
want to ensure enough of it can get in. I've got a unit in the locker
under the v-berth, and added a little grill so that air can get sucked
back in.

Don't know the owner.he appears to be young.I see him on board

Re: Stus-List bus heater

2015-09-26 Thread Rick Rohwer via CnC-List
I had a similar heater (Red Dot) on a previous 36 ft cutter with vent in salon.
It would nearly drive you out of the boat with heat. I hope to install similar
heater on my boat using existing ducting from my Espar heater so that either
system could provide heat depending on whether the engine was cooking or not!
It's on the project list! We have a propane wall furnace as well and it has
been very effective and appreciated.
The Red Dot was probably one of the best $200-300 dollar investments I made in
that boat. Boat was usually dry as a bone and my family would be fine for
winter and cold weather trips!
I can't imagine why it would make much difference which way you run the glycol
loop but It is important to run it down line of the thermostat in my opinion so
that the engine maintains it's heat level. Diesels don't like to run cool
apparently!
Good luck with your project!
Cheers

Re: Stus-List water missing from somewhere

2015-09-26 Thread Josh Muckley via CnC-List
My tanks are ~20 gallons each and if they seem clean (no smells or tastes)
then I'll put 1 tbsp of bleach in the fill hose prior to filling. I let
the water run from the fill hose for quite a while prior to filling the
tanks. If the tank has gotten sour and needs disinfected then I'll use 2
tbsp prior to fill. Too much chlorine will ruin rubber components in the
plumbing system. 1 tbsp does not add a significant taste or smell but 2
will. Remember to use unscented, pure bleach.

I think advice to replace the pipes is simply an age thing. If one is
leaking, how long will it take for them all to leak? I subscribe to a
different school of thought, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Stus-List info on C 37 for sale in NS, cnd

2015-09-26 Thread robert via CnC-List

Bruno:

As I said earlier, I don't know the owner or anything about the boat. I
don't think it has been at our club for many years.it showed up a
few years back.sits on its mooring most of the Summerthey don't
sail it much.I see a younger couple sitting in the cockpit quite
ofter but they don't sail it much.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance.the boat sure does look to be in
fine condition from my vantage point on the water.
