Re: Stus-List C&C 36 Head Port Light Replacement

2018-03-28 Thread William Walker via CnC-List
I replaced mine with a Beckson 4 x 14 with rain gutter from Defender. $135
five years ago. Still, with slope of the bulk head it is mounted in, water
gathers in lower part if heeled, and when opened will dribble in..

2018-03-28 Thread Len Mitchell via CnC-List
Beckson! Yes Bomar is probably the front hatch. Peter at HMP in Toronto will
probably have one. If anyone knows where to find hull number 216, it was 1981
36 KCB in Iceland Blue, I have the manual and build file.

I have used similar on decking and they worked great on that, but I think
the thread design is intended for soft wood not sure how it would work in
hardwoods.

Agree, it is Beckson.

I replaced the screen and seal on mine. Got the parts from West Marine.

Re: Stus-List Using OpenCPN connected to Iridium Go for offshore navigation & e-mail

2018-03-28 Thread Dreuge via CnC-List
If you are set on going with the Iridium Go then look at the PredictWind
package with the GO.

See: https://www.predictwind.com/iridium-go

I am not sure how far offshore you plan on going in your 29-1, but you may
consider other options such
as the DeLorme/Garmin InReach SE/+ or good old weatherfax via $100 SSB
receiver (like the Tecsun
PL-880) and an old iPad (or similar) using the Black Cat HF Weather Fax app.
Radiofax is free, look the latest charts online:

Stus-List C&C 36 head port light

2018-03-28 Thread Len Mitchell via CnC-List
I had a 1981 36 and I am not positive but believe the port was made by Bomar.
It was plastic with black closure knobs, had a lip on the outside maybe 1 inch.
Either way, I got a new direct replacement at HMP in Toronto.

I think you'd be better off with Robertson, instead of the #2 Phillips

I use McFeely's for most of my boat fasteners.  I try to use Robertson
Head (square drive) for most of what I do. McFeely's has both Silicon
Bronze and stainless screws available.

Re: Stus-List SHARX™ Salon vs Saloon

Danny's boat is not a C&C, so it may well have a "salon." You never know
with these off-brand boats. :)
I'd never seen those Sharx screws. I'll look into them and see if they have
a following with the traditionalists.

vessel to have a "salon", unless you are in the hairdressing business...you do
