Stus-List Re: Surplus Boat Parts

2022-11-14 Thread CHARLES SCHEAFFER via CnC-List
Those videos show scrappers cutting away shrouds with no sailboat knowledge at
all. They cut the masts before removing the sail neatly secured to the boom
and the mainsheet is still attached so it's a real butcher job. Solar panels
in the drop zone. Must be the low bidder.

It's a real shame.

Not that one. If it wasn’t damaged before, it is now.

Occasionally there are posts of owners looking for Parts like Spars,
Spreaders ( the other day) and wonder where to source them. Apparently it
isn't worth the trouble, or someone would be setting up more boat
junkyards. My buddy just videotaped a couple instances of the ongoing
progress at his marina around Burnt Store, FLA, Pulling boats ouf after
Ian.
He said, ``It's hard to get sentimental about a Hunter", but it does hurt
to watch these.
It would hurt a lot more if they were C's.

What do they say on the news, "A note of caution, the following video may
be upsetting to some"
Next will be the chainsaws.
