Cheap inverters are a curse. There is a reason good ones are more expensive. My electrician buddy explained it to me once, they are built different. I have had good service from my Charles Marine battery charger. I have replaced numerous large West Marine inverters.

My boat repair colleague and I quit installing them after a few failures. We switched to Blue Sea, Promariner and, for smaller installations, Guest. The original Xantrex chargers, while perhaps not as "smart" as the newer chargers, are very reliable. I have a 20 year old Xantrex 20 on Touche'. Note - it's NOT a Xantrex II. I have a spare but have never had to install it. Second, I prefer separate chargers and inverters. If one side fails, you're in it for big $$$. There are folks who repair them but they're not cheap. -- Dennis C. Touche' 35-1 #83 Mandeville, LA Content trimmed! One was 40 amps and I believe the second was 60 amps. I finally replaced them with a ProMariner Pro Nautic P1260. The charger has served me well in nearly every possible capacity. That experience has left a bad taste in my mouth with regard to modern Xantrex products. I would encourage anyone interested to investigate a Pro Mariner line of inverters. https://www.promariner.com/en/products/marine%20dc%20to%20ac%20power%20inverters<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.promariner.com%2Fen%2Fproducts%2Fmarine%2520dc%2520to%2520ac%2520power%2520inverters&data=05%7C01%7C%7C2e77023761324dc8883308dac9b885c2%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C638044091601232885%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=G9p8Wt2tO7sEYkmIaXGTxiZFQEoOEhxBTe2nWDUqVDU%3D&reserved=0> Josh Muckley S/V Sea Hawk 1989 C&C 37+ Solomons, MD
