Stus-List Outhaul

2024-05-22 Thread Rob Hamlin via CnC-List
Hi
Anyone replaced their outhaul? Boat is a C 37+, with rope to wire that
attaches to the main.

Looking at the manual it’s says 3/8 30ft, but nothing about wire.

Thanks
Rob

If your idler pulley sheaves are in good condition, I would recommend you send the old idler plate to Garhauer and have them fabricate a new plate in stainless steel with new stainless towers and reuse your sheaves.  It will probably cost half what Edson charges and not require any alterations to the deck or binnicle.

The cable replacement is actually pretty straight forward as long as you figure out a way to attach the new cable to the old and the the old to lead the new through the sheeves and pedestal.  If anything comes undone you may have to unmount the pedestal.  The cable can be bought from edson or manufactured by reusing the chain and reswaging new cable.  Its more expensive to use but only $30 or $40 bucks more.  Using theirs ensures that you get new chain.  You'd also be able to leave the olds cable in place and use it to lead the new as described above.  New from edson is my vote.  They come in different lengths and our boats use one of if not the longest available.  You can narrow it down to the available options by measuring from the

My plan is try to drill out see if I can re-tap or May look to cut out and back

Stus-List Re: Acid flushing heat exchanger?

2021-01-13 Thread Rob Hamlin via CnC-List
It’s the raw water side, I have done this by disconnecting each end of the heat
exchanger (raw water cooling) and taking a bilge pump and house and cycling
barnacle buster through the exchanger. I don’t know if there would be a need
to do this on the freshwater side.

Simplest and most complete way to flush, I have found.

Re: Stus-List Multiple C

2020-07-15 Thread Rob Hamlin via CnC-List
Being 36 the C 37+ is the 4th boat I have owned (Ranger 26, 33 and O’Day 34
Modified). I was fortunate to catch the sailing bug as a teenager racing with
my parents (always had power boats) neighbor on a Ranger 23.

Racing became part of my summers, and once you get known as a young kid that
wants to race many skippers come calling.

If I didn’t have this opportunity my interest and passion for sailing would not
be part of who I am.

Fast forward 20 years, I still race, but have a young family (4 and 5) and we
are now able to cruise and enjoy a whole new adventure with a great boat and
why we bought the 37+ and was the perfect boat for our needs.

To continue the sport I bring out anyone that expresses interest that wants to
enjoy the water and lifestyle, it’s only as exclusive as we make it.

Stus-List C 37+ Bow Chocks

2020-05-31 Thread Rob Hamlin via CnC-List
Hi
I’m new owner of Sapphire (formally Kaylarah capt. Gary, and it’s a great boat)
Does anyone have experience replacing the bow chocks on a 37/40, the current
setup does not allow for easy on / off of mooring ride.

Thanks
Rob
