Sometime last fall, someone on this list mentioned a couple of books for
reading, one was Whynott's "A Unit of Water, A Unit of Time", which I purchased
and have just finished. I failed to note the name of the person who suggested
this book, but I wish to say thank you; what a great work! I knew nothing of
the Maine boat building world or of Joel White, but this book immerses one into
the middle of the boat yards and the wood shavings and the boat launchings...I
thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was astounded when I read that EB White, who
had written the "Elements of Style", a book I have used for 38 years in my
office, was the same person who had written of boats and whose son this book
was about...;

This is another, perhaps hidden joy of this list...in addition to boat repair
tips and product sourcing...one can be guided through the nautical literary
scene...so thank you again to the person who made the recommendation.

NB; I am now going to begin "Solo Around the Horn" by Hartjoy...
