Stus-List 37/40 wine storage

Rob, love your design, great job! Wine storage is maybe the only area that
needs improvement! Just another first world problem! We have been suffering so
long too. Insert sarcastic grin here! X

I don't have a 37/40 (yet) but I also don't usually carry bottles of wine on
board our 33-II, the 4 litre boxes are much less breakable, have much more
wine in them and no worries about part bottles or things rolling around.
One red stores nicely behind one of the settees and a white in the fridge
with or with out the cardboard box.

Cheers,

Has anyone come up with an innovative solution for wine storage on a 37/40?
It would be nice to have enough room in the coolish bilge but there isn’t
room.

Edd, I looked at an Amiel back in the 90s.  I'm pretty sure one could
safely and securely have about 40 bottles of wine on that boat, every
cupboard seemed to have space reserved for a couple of bottles.

“Romulan Ale”. We also use the built-in storage in the table.

As for bilge storage, I’ve seen people make custom horizontal racks
out of Plexiglas to store wine under their floors. That area where you
access the stern keel bolt is pretty large — however not a good option
for me any longer as that is going to be the location for my pumps and
strainer feeding the new air conditioner unit being installed.

Bottom line though: If you’re storing more than a few bottles on your
boat, you’re not drinking enough.

All the best,

Edd

I’ve built a wine cellar between the hull and settee cushions on my Landfall
38. It holds 9 bottles of red wine (port side) and nine bottles of white wine
(starboard side). I store each bottle upside down and covered in a wool sock
to prevent rattling. One of my best projects!

put a note inside the bottle, put the cork back in, and pitch it over. And
someone will eventually think it's a wonderful find!

Chris, we do use the table but not for wine. Single malt doesn’t mind the heat.
I am considering building something under the V. I am looking for storage for
probably 12 bottles. I was just looking for ideas because someone has already
done it I am sure!
