Dwight, Congrats; I (actually, I'm pretty sure we all do) know the joy of
finally getting in the water, checking things out and lo and behold, they work!
Yay!!

I am very pleased to report that Alianna was launched on Wednesday past and got
her sails put on, cockpit led running rigging setup and standing rigging rough
tuned yesterday ; she is now resting peacefully on her moorig in Schooner Cove
expecting to do a shake down sail tomorrow if all goes as planned. Her deep
cycle batteries held charge well over the winter and seem strong and reliable,
that's 9 consecutive years now and never off the boat since day one.
Surpisingly all electronics worked well without any problem but I did realize
after about 10 minutes that the gps chart plotter does require the card to be
installed, a small oversight caused by the excitement of being afloat after the
long winter on the hard. She cleaned up very well thanks to Awlgrip, Awlwash
and Awlcare and a new coat of black International bottm paint and the interior
stayed surpisingly fresh and clean during winter storage thanks to ample
ventilation and a garboard drain. I did have to rebed 3 fixed lenses in my
Beckson ports...for which I used 3M 5200 with some trepedation but I don't ever
want to remove these lenses again, so if reports are correct about the adhesive
tenacity of 5200 and this works over the long haul there may indeed be a place
to use 3M 5200 on a sailboat...time will tell and I'll be sure to let you all
know.

Based on the advice from this group I left batteries on board over the winter
as well. Same results. 5+ year old batteries still charged and ready to go.
