Re: Stus-List Asymmetrical shopping for 33-2?
I've purchased two head sails from rolly tasker - both directly dealing with the main factory in Thailand. I purchased a 155% in 2013 and it's a great sail. We're up on Georgian bay now and it's windier there than it was here in Toronto. I ordered a 115% from them two weeks ago - it's already at the marina waiting for me. I asked them to rush it "if they could" and about three days after submitting payment information I got an email from them saying it was ready to ship out. I can't say enough good things about them. Very cost effective and the quality is really good. I haven't actually laid eyes on the 115 yet but if it's as good as the 155 I'll be very happy. The local lofts couldn't get me a sail that quickly, at any price. I was in a rush because we're leaving on a cruise tomorrow and I didn't commit to a decision soon enough. My bad. They shipped UPS - duties and taxes were about $240 CND - OUCH - but still cheaper than local even with that factored in. I remember seeing it in passing… but you guys kept me locked up down below doing navigation for most of the race… :^) Besides, the winds were so light, as I recall we used the cruising chute most of the way from Annapolis to Bermuda. — Fred > On Aug 4, 2016, at 8:14 AM, Joel Aronson via CnC-List> wrote: > > I had a Rolly Tasker 135 on my 35/3. I had a Rolly Tasker 135 on my 35/3. (Fred has seen it.) I put a lot of miles on it and was very happy. If you can find a "stock" size chute you will save yourself significant dollars. I would not hesitate to buy from them again. Re: Stus-List Asymmetrical shopping for 33-2?
Dave — I ordered a new 135% Offshore genoa from Rolly Tasker back on May 16th; actually, you don’t order directly from Rolly Tasker in Thailand any more, you go through a guy in Florida who works in Thailand for a while, and now does their sales in the U.S. The company in Florida is called National Sales. The sail was delivered in the last week of June. I’ve had it unfurled several times now, and it performs quite well; and the construction looks very good. It’s still so stiff that it doesn’t yet furl easily, but I’m also used to my 15-year-old previous 135% that was worn pretty thin… :^) The sail cost me $2187, which included shipping from Florida to Minnesota (after the sail arrived in FL from Thailand). This is with a Sunbrella UV cover and no foam luff. While communication with Dirk in Florida was sometimes a bit slow, I’m happy with the quality and cost of the sail; it definitely seems built to “offshore” standards. And I look forward to getting a chance to fly it again this weekend! We have a Quantum asym with ATN sock. Very nice shape and we are quite pleased. Have used with and without sock. Can actually sail it deeper than we thought. Was brand new when we bought the boat (just delivered). Is from the Quantum loft nearest New Bedford Mass. Your 33-2 and our Frers 33 are extremely similar boats so what works for us should work for you Not sure if that is any help. Could find out the cost if required Mike Persistence Halifax, NS -Original Message- From: CnC-List [mailto:cnc-list-boun...@cnc-list.com] On Behalf Of Syerdave--- via CnC-List Sent: Thursday, August 04, 2016 9:49 AM To: C Stus List Cc: syerd...@gmail.com Subject: Stus-List Asymmetrical shopping for 33-2?
