Thanks all. Tape it is! I will try Holland Marine at Ken's suggestion. I am an hour north of his store and Peter will even mail it. I should have looked there to start with, he has a surprising C OEM inventory. A couple of years ago I was able to source an original holding tank and that's not the only part he surprised me with. Stus-List C trademark stripe
Hi Len, I re-did mine a couple years and used a multi-step approach that provided an "As New" look. I got the trademark enblems / stars for both ends from Holland Marine in Toronto. Those are actual originals. (http://www.hollandmarine.com/) they also have the ready made triple stripe in some colors (Easier to install). I needed royal blue and they did not have it I got 2 rolls of royal blue stripes (1/8 width and 1/2" width) from Great Lakes skipper http://greatlakesskipper.com/ Those are Bayliner stripes and their backing has built-in 1/8" spacer area / markings I got the "Stripe eraser" wheel from ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pinstripe-removal-Discs-Astro-400E-Eraser-Inc-Arbor-400E-AR-stripe-glue-set-/351161305017?hash=item51c2d847b9=351161305017=mtr Once you get the hang of the eraser wheel it takes about 30 minutes to cleanly remove about 30 feet of stripe. Next step I installed the Original C Emblems on both ends, then I layed the bottom stripe following the edge of the sunk-in stripe area I layed the 1/2" middle stripe by following the spacer markings off the lower stripe I layed the top 1/8" stripe by lining-up the spacer backing to the middle stripe It sounds more complicated than it is. It turned-out outstanding. I still get compliments on how straight and "factory" the stripes look. -Francois 1990 34+ "Take Five" Lake Lanier, GA ___ Email address: CnC-List@cnc-list.com To change your list preferences, including unsubscribing -- go to the bottom of page at: http://cnc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/cnc-list_cnc-list.com

Ahoy, For the trademark strip I used 1/2' tape in seagreen. At the ever friendly and helpful and affordable http://www.hollandmarine.com in Canada you will be able to purchase the stars and pointed tips as well, and in different colors - but if I remember right their decal supplies are limited. Re: Stus-List C trademark stripe.
Just had to add the real benefit of using tape instead of paint? Paint requires a good weather window during and for several drying hours after, plus a light sanding and a second coat. Tape is easier to apply and once you're done, you are done, no cleanup and it can rain on it right away. Len: The 'cove strip' on our boat is a blue tape.was there when we bought the boat 10 years ago..not sure when it was actually applied.looks as good now as it did in 2006. Not certain but I think the PO got it from an automotive store. Point being, tape will work just fine if it is a quality product. Rob Abbott AZURA C 32- 84 Halifax, N.S. Got it. My stripe resides in a molded recess to make re-applying easier, but will the wheel work in that recess? David F. From: cnc-list@cnc-list.com CC: billbinal...@gmail.com I would highly recommend removing the old tape. Just make sure to measure and mark when it goes with a grease pencil before removing the original. I measured the distance to the underside of the hull/deck joint every couple of feet. 3M has a special stripe removal wheel for about $40 that you spin with a drill and it removes the tape and residue without harming the underlying gelcoat or paint. Ask at a body shop supply and they will fix you right up. Bill Bina On 9/22/2015 11:02 AM, David via CnC-List wrote: We are re-doing ours as well. Re: Stus-List C trademark stripe.
Not sure how many Good Old Boat subcribers are on the list but in the last issue someone had redone the C cove strip with a reflective tape. Probably not for every color scheme but I thought it would be very good at night if someone was to shine a light towards the boat. I am considering it since I am in a mooring field and the power boaters on the lake seem to come too close most of the time. Re: Stus-List C trademark stripe
We used tape about 5 years ago on my C 30 stripe, but painted the star. Some edge chipping and wear but still OK. I found a reflective tape at an auto supplier, can't remember which one, that ended up being the correct width. By day it is solid red, at night it reflects red and silver in alternate bands. After the clean up of the cove it was an easy job with three people. One person held the roll at the right height and tension, a second person peeled the backing off as we went along and guided the tape, the third person firmly pressed it in. Doubt it took 5 minutes a side. We finished the tips with an X-acto knife.
