Re: Stus-List Engine Room Original Paint (Damian Greene)

All the original inside hull surfaces I have seen on C's are gelcoat.
Previous Owners may have left their own indelible imprint. Now that velvet
art is so cheap, I'm thinking of lining all our cabinets in fuzzy Elvis and
elks.

Re: Stus-List Engine Room Original Paint (Damian Greene)

2016-01-11 Thread Peter Fell via CnC-List
I’ve seen velvet paintings of a big-rig where it all lights up. Wouldn’t it be
cool to have a lighted velvet painting of your C?

I used the Interlux bilge coat on my 27. Standing up very nicely. But the fumes
during application! Make sure you have a good OV respirator.

I consider myself lucky that the old wrap on the wet exhaust on my Atomic 4
wasn’t asbestos when it vibrated off. I had it tested before tearing into the
rest of it. But if by some miracle the exhaust had been original .

tough, durable, and chemically resistant.
I would doubt that C would have used lead based paint. If not gel coat,
maybe it could be epoxy. I do know that it sure doesn’t seem to be a latex, or
oil based lead paint.

Intellux sells a gray or white Bilge coat that is epoxy or polyester based I
believe.

  Bob,

You can get a lead paint test kit for $10 in Home Depot etc. That will answer
the question definitively.

It wasn’t outlawred until ’78, so there is probably a good chance,

I've been cleaning up the engine room, which has included some sanding of the
original paint in there. Is there any chance that paint has lead in it?
