Moorings at the 79th street boat basin.  Never go through Hell Gate against the 
current.   79th Street boat basin is a nice spot.  Email me if you are there on

Aren’t there some moorings on the Hudson River side? Around 70th Street maybe?

Speaking of NY, we ended up going through Hell’s Gate against the current. Boat 
speed was maybe 1 knot at best on a very hot summer day :(

for the night and taking a cab into Manhattan. 

 

I’ve stayed at Lincoln Marina — also a great place, and there’s a ferry that 
takes you right to midtown, but it is a bit of a trek to there from the 
southern tip of Manhattan, especially starting from Western LIS.

My father is a member at Atlantic Highlands YC. They don’t have a reservation 
system for moorings, but I’m told there are plenty available, especially on a 
weekday. 

Atlantic Highlands is a nice town. Movie theatre, restaurants, and shops, all 
within walking distance. 

Atlantic Highlands Marina would not be a option IMO. Shallow water, 
non-floating docks with a big tide variance and very tightly packed together.

Sorry to miss you here. Go to Atlantic Highlands Marina inside Sandy Hook.
Much less expensive than Liberty Landing, which is your other best bet,
across from the Freedom Tower in NYC.
