Re: Stus-List Used Nexus Instruments

Responding to Dennis’s comment, Dick Booth (below) is a Nexus guru. He is a
nice guy, but also a bit of an opportunist. He bought a bunch of stuff when
Nexus was taken over by Garmin and is happy to sell what he has. I bought a
spare NX2 Multi Control for about $600 (significantly overpriced) in case mine
fails. The Multi Control is central to the system, so I may get a few extra
years by having a replacement. Dick knows this.

I’m interested. Don’t need the wind – mine is working. Would not mind the extra
propeller. My speed sensor is also a bit wonky, but would like to try another,
need displays, have computer, don’t need depth.

Sounds like we may have a fit. What are you asking? How many displays?

Re: Stus-List Used Nexus Instruments

2019-06-04 Thread Dennis C. via CnC-List
Rod,

Touch order. I've managed to find the occasional display but they are
rare. Spare knotlog transducers can be found fairly easily.

I've pretty much decided that on my next instrument failure I'll replace
the entire Nexus system. Barring that, a couple of stop gap measures are:

1. install a Garmin GND 10 black box bridge and buy Garmin GNX 20 or 21
displays.
2. Buy a NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 converter and get the GNX displays.
3. If your GPS has a 2000 output and can see the Nexus data, you could
power up a 2000 backbone and use a GNX display. I have a Noland
multiplexer that interfaces my Nexus server with my Garmin GPS via 0183.
The GPS has a 2000 output.

Used Nexus Classic displays, when you can find them, aren't much cheaper
than new GNX displays.

There is a guy somewhere that is a Nexus Classic repair guru but I couldn't
find his name.
