Stus-List Inflatable Cleaning
David: I had some barnacles on my hull this year.on the advice of a C lister, I used muriatic acid..diluted the acid (approx. 33% from the retailer) 1 part acid to 5 parts water (down to say 6%).put in a spray bottle and it pretty much dissolved the barnacles. Let the acid stand for about 10 minutes and rinsed with a hose..no damage to the antifouling paint. Rob Abbott AZURA C 32 - 84 Halifax, N.S. On 2015-11-18 1:55 PM, David via CnC-List wrote: OK... I use diluted Acid Magic (already very dilute hydrochloride) to remove barnacle rings from my bronze prop and my PVC dinghy. Brush on, watch the fizz, brush off. Re: Stus-List inflatable cleaning
Dave, It's calcium. At your age you need all the calcium you can get. OK... mild acid, maybe even vinegar, should reduce the little discs to goop. I would start with a $3 gallon of vinigar mixed with dish soap so it sticks a bit, then go from there. Then you can blend with ice, ensure, geritol and rum. Like a calcium colada. Sorry. I just can't help myself. I used muriatic acid to dissolve them, didn't hurt the hypalon one bit. It's a slow process though, you'll have to apply the acid and wipe down several times.
