[cobirds] Re: Purple Sandpiper update
Who knows where he could be. Maybe he'll turn up at Spiney Mountain Reservoir. Maybe Pueblo Reservoir. Perhaps Barr Lake. Cherry Creek Res would be fantastic! I was thinking that if the Bushong twins hadnt happened to go birding there in mid December know one would ever see it. Let's hope someone refinds it somewhere. [cobirds] Re: Purple Sandpiper update
We got there shortly after noon, looked (great looks at a Snipe), had lunch, looked again, drove around the reservoir and looked one last time, but no luck. So we looked between noon and 4. [cobirds] Huerfano County Update: Rusty Blackbird, Surf Scoter, Wilson's Snipe, Harris's Sparrow
Yesterday for the Spanish Peaks CBC Paul and I found a Surf Scoter on Daigre Lake. Have pics on CFO Facebook page. This morning we followed Dave Silverman's excellent directions to stalk the 2 Rusty Blackbirds he found yesterday. We flushed a Wilson's Snipe. We were actually headed back to the car thinking one more hour wasted looking for a nemesis bird when one walked out from under a small footbridge! A lifer for both of us on the first day of 2017! No pics this time, but will go back! After an absence of over a week, our Harris's Sparrow made an appearance yesterday just as the light was fading. Just in time to be counted for the CBC. It was there again this morning. Had a very good count yesterday. Unofficial total was 59 species...with three new species, the Surf Scoter, Scaled Quail and a Canyon Towhee! Happy New Year from Huerfano County! Paul and Polly Wren Neldner La Veta, CO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group. [cobirds] Re: New Year's Resolution - eBird daily list
OK, let the challenge begin. Had a Cooper's Hawk as first bird of the year on my back deck! Very nice. I have been doing the back yard here in my Highlands Ranch home in Douglas county for the last week and that has not been much trouble. So maybe I can do it. [cobirds] Re: New Year's Resolution - eBird daily list
I completed the listaday challenge in 2016. It is an effort but worth trying, at least once. I ended up with 548 complete checklists and 770 species. 347 of the complete checklists were from my home area of Boulder County. I do recommend making the attempt. And yes, yard lists are accepted.
