[cobirds] Pueblo Prairie Warbler, maybe gone 1/27
Today (27 January 2018), there were lots of birds at times, in the area where the Prairie Warbler has been seen, below Pueblo Reservoir dam, Pueblo County (from 5 December 2107 to 24 January 2018), though the Prairie Warbler never appeared. Maybe it is still alive and well, though, I think I should have seen it today, as I spent a lot of time looking (and also looked yesterday for a little while). If anyone does happen to find it again, please report it. I'm thinking it is gone for real this time, so I'll be documenting it for the Colorado Birds Records Committee soon. This is the first ever Prairie Warbler in Colorado, during the month of January, and will be the 2nd documented sighting for Pueblo County, during the winter months. I'm happy it stayed a long time, and was seen by a lot of people. The other winter Prairie Warbler in Pueblo County, was last seen on the Pueblo Reservoir CBC on 16 December 1995, and not reported after that date, as far as I know. -- Brandon Percival Pueblo West, CO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group. [cobirds] All Three Rosy-finches in Conejos County
I stopped by Susan Hochstetler's place this week (Conejos County) and observed the wonderful assortment of Rosy-finches at her feeders. I was able to see and photograph all three species including coastal and inland races of Gray-crowned. We were wondering if we ever get "Bering Sea" race of Gray-crowned in Colorado. Anyone seen them? Susan is open to birders. She is an Amish lady and her husband Martin is ill. You can see these birds by going south from Monte Vista on Hwy 15 until the pavement ends. Then go another 1 mile and watch for her place on the east side of the road. Hers is the place with numerous feeders out. I know Susan spends enormous amounts on bird seed. If you are so inclined, please consider a donation to help her out. John Rawinski Monte Vista, CO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
