Thanks Diane!

To those CoBirders that have “influence” with eBird — is this something that
is/should be reflected there? I’m not making an issue — just raising a
question.

[cobirds] Barn Owls

2021-06-21 Thread Scott

Hi all,

This has been a petty good year for Barn Owls nesting in our nest boxes.

One of which is in Northern Colorado.

If you would like to learn about these birds and see them up close,
Click the link Here

to attend a Workshop where we will be discussing every aspect of the
Barn Owls life and banding the birds at one of our nesting locations.

This is a great way to see these birds and learn about how they survive
in the wild.

See you Saturday evening,

Hi Gary & Cobirds,

Rueter-Hess has portions open to the public now for hiking. There is, also,
paddle boarding. Tim Ryan works with Parker Water, takes out scheduled birding
trips & DFO is resuming trips there post-pandemic. Below is a link for more
information.

Hope this helps,

CoBirders,

The eBird Hotspot for Reuter-Hess Reservoir states that it is
“restricted-access”. Is that still the case (I know it was during the
reservoir’s construction)? Do the folks reporting birds from that site have
special permission? Or is the eBird description out-of-date?

Thanks!

[cobirds] Box Canyon Falls, Ouray, CO

2021-06-21 Thread Robert Righter
Hi all

Sandy and I just visited the amazing Box Canyon Falls, home for many years to
the Black Swift. Reportedly nine swifts have returned this years although we
didn’t see any. While at the Falls I kept thinking of Rich Levad and all the
outstanding work he accomplished locating Back Swift's nest sites.

Cheers,

Bob Righter

[cobirds] ARLO at Walden

2021-06-21 Thread 'Steven Mlodinow' via Colorado Birds
Greetings All
I was pondering with Nick Moore success, vs lack of, in pursuit of yonder
Arctic Loon.
The Arctic Loon seems to hang around (at least Saturday) back towards the far
western portion of the reservoir. Walden Reservoir can be confusing. First of
all, it is oriented largely north/south. Additionally, it is easy to think you
are nearing the northern end when you are not.
The road along the eastern side of the reservoir is a track, mostly, sometimes
requiring care due to ruts. Walden ends to the north in one last lobe bordered
by (in part) a rocky rim. It is also most pinched off just before this last
lobe.
The loon was best viewed just south of that "pinch," at about 40.741488
-106.319239 I do wonder if some folks did not go quite far enough north. The
Common Loon spent most of its time a couple of hundred yards to the south of
the Arctic.
Good Luck and Good BirdingSteve
