Thank you Kathy!

I’ve heard from a lot of different folks, including Tim. I understand what’s
going on, and I very much appreciate all of the comments.

Hi Gary/all -

I corresponded with Tim Ryan who kindly confirmed that access remains
"restricted". The hotspot name will continue to indicate such until the
access is no longer restricted.

Please utilize the website Diane provided for further information and
guidance. If you have further questions, they should be directed to the
phone number on the website.

Good birding,

[cobirds] Colorado Birds Summer Issue is now available online

2021-06-22 Thread Peter Burke
COBirders,
The Summer Issue of Colorado Birds has been posted to the CFO website
and is available to members who are
logged in. The printed version will mail in approx. two weeks.

In addition to the latest CFO News, the issue includes a paper about the
first documented case of leucism in Black Swifts. Dave Leatherman's
always-entertaining column, The Hungry Bird, examines a highly specialized
feeding strategy that involves flipping over cowpies, if you can believe
it. And Peter Gent has reviewed a new novel from John Vanderpoel, Full
Chase Mode, detailing his Big Year in 2011 - a great read!

Best,

[cobirds] Mississippi Kite Researcher

2021-06-22 Thread mvjo...@gmail.com
Hi all:

I was recently contacted by a student at Angelo State doing research on
Mississippi Kite genetics. She had asked about the two (three seen later by
someone?) I found earlier this spring in Alamosa. That species is rare in
the San Luis Valley and we have no breeding records. Be that as it may, I
was going to suggest a few contacts for the eastern plains. I thought of
Brandon Percival and Duane Nelson. Is there anyone else that is a good
contact for this species? If you fellas are okay with it, I can connect you
with her email. Let me know with a reply.
