I heard tonight that the area below Two Buttes Reservoir, Baca County in SE
Colorado is still closed to everyone. It has been closed since September
2nd. So far the date when it will be re-opened hasn't been announced yet.

[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Lake Banding Report, 9/15/21

2021-09-15 Thread Colin Woolley
Like clockwork, another 25 birds banded today, of 7 species. The past few
days we've been seeing a few Yellow-rumped Warblers, though none in the
nets just yet. We're hoping cooler weather next week will bring more birds!

Here are today's totals:
Wilson's Warbler - 16
Yellow Warbler - 2
Orange-crowned Warbler - 2
House Wren - 1
Warbling Vireo - 1
Hermit Thrush - 1
Green-tailed Towhee - 2

We are open 6 days a week, weather permitting through October 23. Closed
Mondays. Click here
 to register to
visit - we are offering one-hour slots (up to 12 visitors at a time);
7:30-8:30 most weekdays, and 8-9, 9-10, and 10-11 on weekends. Come visit!

[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies Chico Basin Ranch Banding Update 9/15/21

2021-09-15 Thread Nancy Ransom
We hit our 500th bird banded for the season today! Although we had no
rarities here like we did yesterday, it was still a productive day with 39
captures. We caught our first Audubon's Warbler for the year, so they're
starting to move through. I also caught another Veery, and know that a few
birders are interested in seeing the Veery as well. Thank you to the CFO
group out of Denver for stopping by and giving me some sustenance at the
end lol!

Chico captures for 9/15:
Wilson's Warbler 21
Warbling Vireo 1
Audubon's Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 1
Chipping Sparrow 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 3
Swainson's Thrush 3
White-crowned Sparrow 2
Veery 1
Green-tailed Towhee 2
Brown Thrasher 1
Blue Jay 1
Gray Catbird 1
Indigo Bunting 1

We are open 6 days a week at Chico Basin Ranch (closed Sunday), usually
returning from the first net run around 7am and staying open until about
11:30am, weather permitting. Thank you for your continued support!

[cobirds] Costa's Hummingbird in Las Animas, Bent County update

2021-09-15 Thread Duane Nelson

Birders,

The immature male Costa's Hummingbird visiting my feeders in Las Animas
is still here this morning. Storms last night bypassed Las Animas, but
currently there is dense fog, which should burn off later this morning.

Birders are welcome to visit as long as the bird is here. Please park
along the side of my circular driveway instead of on East 6th Street.
