Re: [cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Pineridge Natural Area Banding Report 9/19-21

2023-09-22 Thread Lori Pivonka
Great report Josephine!

I was walking around Dixon Reservoir yesterday afternoon and happened to spot a
rolled up net close to the trail. My friend asked what it was for and I shared
all about BCOR and bird banding! So excited there is a new station at Dixon.
I hope it will continue in future years.

Thanks so much for choosing a career in Ornithology and for all you to do help
us learn more about birds!
Hoot!! šŸ¦‰

Happy Autumn Equinox!

Yes! Very chilly! At our house in FOCO, a brisk -17Ā° this morning!
I noticed the same thing on those species and American Goldfinch, Flickers, and
a Townsend Solitaire as well. Chilly overnight for our feathered friends!

[cobirds] Common Gallinule - Larimer

2019-05-01 Thread Lori Pivonka
Sheila Webber and I saw this fabulous fowl Tuesday/today ~ 3.45pm amidst
intermittent snowbanding. We were at the small pond for about 45 minutes
and it did not reveal itself. We moved on to nearby Morris Reservoir for
about 25 minutes and when we returned it was out in the open and very
unconcerned. Nice view. Patience is a virtue. ;) Thanks again to Josh
Bruening for his keen eye.

Tuesday, 1/8 @ 3.30pm. Between Adams & Pierce in alley. Fourth house from
Pierce, with feeders & water (next to house window) in back yard. Then heard
singing and calling enthusiastically (nice audio) in trees along low green
fence row at #705 6th St. Spotted about 25ā€™ up and got great photos with the
low winter sun.
