[cobirds] Fallout in Loveland from Paul Opler, Loveland, CO

2020-05-14 Thread paulopler
Hello, This morning, we had a fallout here in our small yard. Seen were a
Swainson Thrush, male
Wilson Warbler, Green-tailed Towhee, two Clay-colored Sparrow, and male
Western Tanager. .Seen just south of our yard was a passing Peregrine heading
east in advance of an approaching storm. None of these birds were seen after
the afternoon storm.

[cobirds] Stilt Sandpipers at WCR 16 & 51 - May 12

2020-05-13 Thread paulopler
Evi and I had a bunch of shorebirds at this shallow wetland yesterday. Among
the large number of long-billed dowitchers were 2 stilt sandpipers. On May 9th
at the same place there was a black-bellied plover.

[cobirds] Caspian Terns, Clarks Grebes at south end of Boyd Lake, Loveland

2020-04-23 Thread paulopler
Yesterday (April 22), there were at least 3 Caspian Terns foraging and calling
over the southern portion of Boyd Lake; there were also at least 4 Clarks
Grebes courting in the same area for the past 4 days. There is limited parking
to access this area and the closest open parking at the Seven Lakes area at
the eastern end of Park Drive. A closer place is at the east end of Hampstead
Drive which has only 4-5 places to park.
