It seemed pretty weird to see a Common Loon today at Crawford Res. in Delta County (about 7000 feet elevation). The bird was in winter plumage and actively foraging near the east shore near the northern campground. I was there to count Western Grebes and there were about 10 adults present but I didn't see any evidence of breeding yet. Some adults were hopefully in the marshy area on nests.
