My ever faithful birding buddy pup (Scooter) and I ventured out to Lathrop
State Park this morning in hopes of finding something new.
At the wetlands trail we found a Green Heron. It was calling, the marks the 7th
year in a row I have seen them at Lathrop.
The big surprise was an adorable Semipalmated Plover (the first I have seen at
the park in three years) in amongst 6 Spotted Sandpiper on some small rocks
directly across from the large group camping area.

Pictures can be seen on the CFO Facebook page.

Very disturbing to see was the spraying of pesticides on the imported sand at
the swim beach area. They did put up small flags warning people to stay off the
sand....but as we all know...birds, reptiles, butterflies etc. cannot
read....grrrrrrr!
