Ventured out for a short period of time on the Pawnee until the wind kicked up. - Sage Thrasher (CR 41 btw 100/102 - (3); CR 49 north of 100 - (4)) - Loggerhead Shrike (CR 41 btw 100/102) - Vesper Sparrow CR 49 north of 100 (3) - Burrowing Owl CR 59/74 (1) - Osprey O Street gravel pit in Greeley, behind the jail (2 on nest) - Black-crowned Night Heron (2), Cattle Egret at Glenmere Park - Mute Swan F street gravel pit in Greeley - Western Grebe on 3t5th Ave west gravel pit (6) Photos tomorrow. Hi all - Marbled Godwit (1) Weld CR 59 Marsh - Yellow-rumped Warbler (7) Crom Lake - New Burrowing Owl (4): Beebe Draw Weld CR 42 on N (Paired); Weld CR 62/61 on S (2 individuals) Other notes: Crow Valley Campground closed for the season gated and signed-I'm asking our Forest if birders are still allowed to enter. Very large flooded field Hwy 392/Weld CR 63 on N (ducks so far). Also, the Greeley Mute Swan pair, there is a photo I took on F Street, "nesting or resting"? Sure looks like a nest. Hi all - Burrowing Owl (2) - Weld CR 100/49 - Mountain Plover (1); McCown's Longspur (3) - Weld CR 100/390 (about 1.0m from 390 on south is a large prairie dog colony, most reliable place for past 3-4 years. Seen in SE quadrant of colony at the very south end) - Sharp-tailed Grouse (3); Chestnut-collared Longspur flyover (11+); McCown's Longspur flyover (3+) - Weld CR 134/111 - Swainson's Hawk (1) - Town of Grover - Others: Ferruginous Hawk; Rough-legged Hawk Prairie Falcon The large playa at Weld CR 122/83 actually has a lot of water for the first time that I can remember. No birds. Also, large prairie dog colony at Weld CR 122/85 (on south)-only dogs, so far.
