[cobirds] Palm Warbler, Larimer

2016-11-19 Thread Nick Komar
David Bray reports a bright eastern Palm Warbler at Rivers Edge natural area in
Loveland, Larimer county, right now. From the parking lot head Southeast along
the edge of bass pond. Watch for it with American Tree Sparrows

[cobirds] Palm Warbler, Larimer County

2012-09-18 Thread Brad Biggerstaff

This late afternoon between 5:00 and 6:00 I was birding in the Cobb Lake
Unit of the Wellington State Wildlife Area in Larimer County. This Unit is
located between East County Roads 56 and 58, and just west of North County
Road 3. Decent birds were a Townsend's Solitaire, Say's Phoebe, Lincoln's
Sparrow, and Wilson's, Orange-crowned, and (Audubon's) Yellow-rumped
Warblers, as well a Sharp-shinned Hawk and two Northern Harriers (always
good for those there, it seems).

The highlight, though, was a (western) Palm Warbler, which I saw fly low to
the ground then into a juniper (I think but not sure about that part--sorry
Dave Leatherman). It cooperated quite well, remaining in the same tree for
several minutes. I was able to get good photos, and one can see the
tail-pumping characteristic in the first two photos (sequence) and then in
other photos in which the tail is blurred. The bird was silent.
