Witness-quality photos of the apparent Glossy Ibis are posted at
http://www.pbase.com/quetzal/ibisjuly09. One question is whether hybrid with
White-faced Ibis is safely ruled out.

Nick Komar and I photographed an adult Glossy Ibis late yesterday evening on
County Road 48 at Lower Latham Reservoir (Weld County). The blue line above the
was very bright suggesting that it might be in full breeding plumage. Keep an
eye out for possible breeding in this area, as we saw an unidentified ibis fly
into some tall grass at the edge of the cattails, but we could never see it
after it landed. There was also large numbers of Ring-billed and Franklin's
Gulls flying onto the reservoir, so this might be a good place to look for rare
gulls. Also on the reservoir were 2 Mute Swans, which could be a few of the
same birds that has been seen in the Greeley area earlier this year.
