Re: [cobirds] Red-throated Loon still around (Adams)

2019-03-31 Thread Eric DeFonso
10 days later and the Red-throated Loon was still there today, 3/31. I
visited around 2pm-ish today and the bird was in the western third of that
reservoir just south of 104th and the parking area for Elaine Valente Park.
Maybe I was lucky but I spotted the bird almost immediately - sticks out
like a sore thumb from all the Ruddies there.

Still present at 1:10. Easily viewable from several pulloffs off of 104th. Now
in eastern 1/3 of reservoir. Frequently diving.

The red throated loon is still in the same place right now. (10:50am) It is
on the western third of the pond across the street from Elaine T Valente
open space on 104th. It has its bill on its back and is napping. Thanks
Chris!

[cobirds] Red-throated Loon still around (Adams)

2019-03-17 Thread 'Chris Petrizzo' via Colorado Birds
The Red-throated Loon that Peter Ruprecht identified is still in the area.
This morning it was a bit north of the first sighting at 89th Ave, in the
pond immediately south of Elaine T. Valente Open Space and 104th Ave. I
managed to get a few distant photos before it apparently flew off.

Also in that general area between 88th Ave and 104th Ave this morning,
Northern Shrike, Glaucous Gull, Lesser Black-Backed Gull, Horned and Eared
Grebes, Ruddy Ducks (breeding plumage), Great-tailed Grackle.

Here are the eBird lists with a few pix:

Loon & Shrike: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S53947339

Gulls: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S53949497

(If anyone can help me with the ID of the Gull sp in the second list, I'd
appreciate it)
