Just wanted to make folks aware that a local landowner has released a
number of Ring-necked Pheasants in the area of Pathfinder Park which is
located off H115 between Canon City and Florence. It was expected that
they will disperse in the area and I saw my first one today. They will
likely stay in the area along the Arkansas River between MacKenzie Ave and
Florence. While I have seen a wild born pheasant in this area once some
years ago they have been hunted away for some time. He told me he was also
going to purchase some quail to release but I haven't seen any yet or had a
chance to check on that.

I found a Snow Goose today on Canon City's Valco Pond (reminder these are
private property) east pond where a lot of geese and ducks had gathered
near the highway and easily viewed from the parking lot. We have several
sapsuckers in Canon City and Florence as we usually do in the winter. As I
was out of state I don't know when they arrived but I have seen 2
Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, one an adult female and the other a juvenile in
Canon City. I have seen 2 male and 1 female Williamson's Sapsucker in
Canon and an adult male Red-naped Sapsucker in Florence.

I found a dark morph Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk in Canon City last week and I
have seen in twice since. These often stay for weeks or sometimes months.
