Since you have a map:act wouldn't you rather use {../1} instead of {1} in

I am not sure but these are my 2 cents.

sitemap substitution in actions

2002-09-08 Thread Phil Blake

I have a directory with common resources like images and pdfs thyat are
used by all sections of the site. I also have other directories with
resources that are specific to a certain part of the site.

So... If the url points to a specific resource, and it doesn't exist
then it returns the common resource. (assuming it exists)

I thought this might do the trick:

but got the error:

org.apache.cocoon.ProcessingException: Failed to execute pipeline.:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /resources/images/.jpg (No such file or
directory)

The Sitemap substitutions don't appear to be available in the action.
What have I done wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Phil

RE: Xopus2 has been open sourced

2002-09-08 Thread Robert Koberg

Hi Michael,

What are your thoughts on Xopus? Did you just need any client editor and Xopus
was the best out of the choice(s)? Or do you believe Xopus to be an excellent
product?

Have you compared it to the commercial version? Is it just 'less buggy' as they
state or is there interesting functionality?

It seems weird that they have the commercial version being sold as 'less buggy.'
Is the OS version intentionally buggy to get people to buy the commercial
version?

I am having trouble understanding this business model.

recommended C2 hosting

2002-09-08 Thread MTiffany71
hi,

anyone like to recommend web hosting provider that supports C2?

my current hosting "solution" is really a problem...

Re: Xopus2 has been open sourced

2002-09-08 Thread Michael Wechner

ok, Wyona now includes Xopus.
You can try it out at

http://195.226.6.74:38080/wyona-cms/forum/authoring/index.html

(login with "wyona" and "levi".)

Note, that this publication is generating a RSS, which is XIncluded
by another publication:

http://195.226.6.74:38080/wyona-cms/wyona.org/index.html

I have also updated the documentation with regard to Xopus a bit:

http://195.226.6.74:38080/wyona-cms/docs/xdocs/xopus2.html

There you will find info on "Browser Requirements" to be able to use Xopus.

In case you are interested in the code then just use the
CVS version:

http://www.wyona.org/download/index.html

The next step will be to get rid of the Wyona dependencies
and maybe move it to cocoon-apps or cocoondev

Another step would be to further refactor it, for instance make
it work with arbitrary sources (for instance HSQLDB) or even
write a WebDAV driver for Xopus such that it can be used together
with Slide.

Have fun

Michael

Re: XMLForm data stored/retrieved via Session Transformer?

2002-09-08 Thread Ivelin Ivanov

XMLForm currently supports JavaBeans, DOM and mixed models.
You can look at the Feedback Wizard demo for example.

How do you mean that people will be using forms without writing Java code.
We can write another Action to take as parameter a file name with the XML
model, however how you you handle the input data once submitted. How would
you implement the logic for handling the input data? This has been requested
before, but noone has suggested a better replacement for Java when it comes
to writing general purpose logic.

2002-09-08 Thread Simon Price

Support for Alan's suggestion of a model in XML format

I'm pretty certain that JXPath can be used with a DOM object so it
should be possible for XMLForms to support both JBs and XML as the model.

Personally, I really like the idea of being able to create and
manipulate the model without having to drop into Java. For many simple
forms, its seems like complete overkill having to write beans.

Irrespective of what I think, there's a strong argument for having an
XML model: new Cocoon users and non-Java programmers will be able to
take advantage of XML Forms.

Cheers

Simon

PS. I'm still pretty new to Cocoon and so, despite having looked at the
source for XML Forms, I would not be surprised to find that its already
possible. If it is, I'd love to know how!

PPS. Thanks to Ivelin for the new itemset tag.

Newbie installing Cocoon2.0.3 on WinXP, WebLogic 6.1sp3

2002-09-08 Thread Paul Lee

Hello all, I am trying to do what I mentioned in the subject line. I
went to the cocoon "installing page" and followed the instructions as
closely as I could (I am assuming that installing on WLS 6.0sp2 is
similar to 6.1sp3). The following are the exact steps that I did:

- fresh install of WLS 6.1sp3 on my WinXP

- downloaded cocoon 2.0.3 binary for JVM 1.3, unzipped

- copied xercesImpl-2.0.0.jar and xml-apis.jar to d:\bea. Added the
following line to startWebLogic.cmd:

set CLASSPATH=d:\bea\xercesImpl-2.0.0.jar;d:\bea\xml-apis.jar

- added the following lines to config.xml:

- unzipped cocoon.war, copied to mydomain/applications/

I then started WLS, and on the WLS console it seems that cocoon started
successfully. I then tried to hit it with the browser
(http://localhost:7001/cocoon/) but got the following error

= start of error ==

Since then I tried to install with loading cocoon.war through the WLS

not done anything to it yet.

Any pointers/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Possible Entity Resolving Bug

2002-09-08 Thread Jeremy Aston

Just to add a little more info...

I have taken note of the two search modes allowed (prefer=public or
prefer=system) in the CatalogManger.properties. Every thing seems correct
here so this leads me even more to question exactly why is not passed to the catalog for matching but is.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Subject:Possible Entity Resolving Bug

Hi,

I have been doing some work with entity catlogs and have
noticed some interesting behaviour. It appears system ids are being ignored
if used with a DOCTYPE declaration, only public ids are picked up. I can
successfully map something like:

http://www.pigbite.com/dtd/person.dtd";>

using an entry like

PUBLIC "-//PIGBITE//DTD Person V1.0//EN" "dtd/person.dtd"

But

http://www.pigbite.com/dtd/person.dtd";>

does not get mapped even if

SYSTEM http://www.pigbite.com/dtd/person.dtd";
"dtd/person.dtd"

is in the local catalog.

I've noted that if a systemId is used to reference an entity
- e.g.

http://www.pigbite.com/dtd/jez.txt";>

and a corresponding map is in the catalog file:

SYSTEM "http://www.pigbite.com/dtd/jez.txt";"jez.txt"

then this is resolved correctly.

This does not appear to be a fundamental catalog problem. I
modified the entity catalog tests to test the above scenarios and everything
worked. Interestingly the tests force the public Id and systemId args in
the resolveEntity() method call, however further checks what gets passed to
resolveEntity in org.apache.cocoon.components.resolver.ResolverImpl show
that in the case of DOCTYPE the systemId arg is always NULL, regardless of
if a systemId is present either on it's own or along with a publicid. In
the case of an ENTITY declaration the systemid and the publicid (if present)
are always passed correctly. It would appear that which ever bit of the doc
parser picks up the entity references, it is not doing it as I would have
expected.

The catalog samples work fine, mainly because all the
examples follow the above rules. I know the local catalog is being loaded
and have tested that using the xml-commons tools, my modified cocoon test
build and the fact that the resolution does take place if the "right" rules
are followed. Trawling the lists I noted a previous message along similar
lines that had no response, and I could not find anything else. Is this
behaviour correct or is it a bug? I've looked at several other sites,
including the OASIS spec and nothing seems to shed any light on it (other
than implying that it should work as expected) so If someone can advise I
can either stop trying something that is not meant to happen or raise a
bugzilla and do some more debugging.

FYI I am using 2.0.3, JDK1.4, JAXP. I have not yet tried it
against the current HEAD code or using the XML catalog format (although I am
sure the catalog itself is fine)

TIA

[ANN] XMLForm update - support for dynamic select data

2002-09-08 Thread Ivelin Ivanov

Due to several requests and availability of standard from W3C,
I added support for the itemset tag, which allows additional flexibility

The Feedback Wizard demo has been updated to demonstrate the usage of the
new tag.

The W3C XForms standard document is available here:

RE: Possible Entity Resolving Bug

2002-09-08 Thread Jeremy Aston

Hi Antonio,

Whilst this works it's not really solving the problem. Firstly, anything
with a public identifier can be correctly set up and resolved using catalogs
thus removing the need for the hard coding. Also, this solution is only
workable at the serializer level - which is not applicable at the
generation/transformation stages when you will be processing XML resources
with their own DTD and entity resolution requirements.

What I am attempting to find out is why system ids are apparently not passed
across to the catalog resolver code for a DOCTYPE - is it correct behaviour,
is there a bug, or is it down to the configuration/operation of a specific
parser? The parser is picking up the system id because it attempts to use
it as a result of not being able to resolve a match - so why is it not
passing it for matching?

Thanks for your response anyway.

Jez

I resolved this simple problem making a hardcode for example:

-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0//ES

http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/strict.dtd

1024

Is this correct?
