Hello Chris,

I'm just wondering why you are not using the xmlforms, they provide data

storage for the multiple forms, have a flow logic and using the xforms
for
generating form elements. So there is no need to write an own action, in
my
opinion as long as you are not need too specific tasks to be
accomplished
with these action.

ciao Lars

sorry to write again about my problem with url-rewriting.
i want to tell again, in a detailed from, my problem. maybe someone can
help me.

i wrote a web-app using a java action described in
http://comphy.fsu.edu/xml/docs/actions.html with additional
session-handling. with the use of cookies, everthing is fine - now i
want to do it with url-rewriting and i did it the following way.

my action looks as following (here a code snipped from the main-part)

i turned off the use of cookies in my weblogic-property file
weblogic.xml

---
if i call my page an the action is called the first time, everthing
works fine (a new session is created, ...). but the second time with the
same browser (when the session is still there), the session is creted

i studied the EncodeURLTransformer, but it doesn't helped me (i don't
know how to
in my action use this for url-rewriting)

i also read chapters in some books about url-rewriting, they always use
response.encodeURL(URL);

but how can i use this response in my action?
what do i have to modify?
how can i use the EncodeURLTransformer in my action? do i have to do
this? is the only part to change, to use url-rewriting to insert
map:serialize type=html/ in my sitemap?

are there some examples or has someone examples doing url-rewriting with

i tried several tasks, but it always leeds to the error (every time a
new session is creted and the previous session information is lost)
described above. please help, if someone has an answere.

Chris,

I don't know much about actions, so I can't help you too much with that.
However, I can offer some hints on the EncodeURLTransformer. Basically,
it has a bug. The first time you hit a page, it fails to rewrite the
URLs. This works for some frameworks, in which the first page is a login
page, with the form action manually rewritten in XSP, and then all
subsequent pages are rewritten. Someone else posted on the mailing list
a while back
(http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=xml-cocoon-usersm=103241658409677w=2)
,
but it doesn't appear to have been picked up by the Cocoon developers;
it's been on my to-do list for a little while to add this to bugzilla,
so I'll try to take the time to do that today.

In the meantime, to fix the bug, we changed the source code for
EncodeURLTransformer, compiled it, and put it in our cocoon.jar in place
of the old one. I think you can also just put it in WEB-INF/classes, if
you are using Tomcat, but we didn't try that. Anyway, you can use the
fix suggested in the link above, or you can try ours. Ours is maybe a
bit simpler, but you tend to get URLs rewritten on the first page
regardless of whether the browser needs it, which doesn't hurt anything
but might bother some people. Our fix is:

replace:
  if ( request.isRequestedSessionIdFromURL()) {
with:
  if ( request.isRequestedSessionIdFromURL() ||
this.session.isNew()) {

in the setup() method.

but my question is how to use in the action? maybe there is a action code

Subject: URL Rewriting

hi all!

i use cocoon2.0.2, winxp and weblogic6.0sp2

i use cookies for session handling, but i dont want to do use cookies.

i want to use url-rewriting in my cocoon-action. has anyone code
examples how to do inside the action or links to pages who to use
url-rewriting in cocoon-actions.

now i use the session to put information between action and my website.
can i use it also with url-rewriting?

another question to weblogic:
how do i turn on or off in my weblogic to use cookies for session
handling or not. because in
http://xml.apache.org/cocoon/developing/webapps/session.html it says,
Just refer to the
documentation of your servlet engine on how to turn on cookies for
session handling., but i can't find how in my weblogic.

greetings, chris

urlRewriting

2002-10-21 Thread Christoph Stocker
hi all,

i read the documentation and i found out the following--

to use url-rewriting in cocoon, i just turn of the use of cookies
for session-handling (i did this in my weblogic.xml)

and

add the following in my sitemap, where my web-app is called
map:transform type=encodeURL/

so my sitemap looks as following

map:match pattern=startOR
 map:act type=ORAction
   map:generate src=orneu/{nextpage}.xsp type=serverpages/
   map:transform src=orneu/xml2html.xsl type=xslt/
   map:transform type=encodeURL/
 /map:act
 map:serialize type=html/
/map:match

where ORAction is my action i rad out the data from the request and put
in the data into the session ( for example --
session.setAttribute(item, an Object))
to read it out in the xsp-sites.

is this ok

If

session problem (get mixed data)

2002-06-14 Thread Christoph Stocker

hi!

i use weblogic6.0sp2, hp-ux and cocoon2.0.2

i have a session-problem with cocoon in the following way --

if a client connects to my webapplication, he gets data, like
adresses. then on the other way, a second client connects to
the server and also requests data.

so in some cases it could happen, that one client sees the data
of the other client. my mention is, that i have a session problem,
that data is shown to a user don't belong to him.

in my action i look if its a new session (get the session from request).

if this is so, i read the parameters given with the url and write it
into the session. is there another request, i look again, if the session

is new - if it is, i do the step described before - if not, i get the
data
from the related session.

so i have a lot of sesisons objects on the server.

some times it could happen, that a user gets data from session-objects,
don't belong to him. i don't know, if my solution of session handling is
the best - maybe i do it wrong.

what is my problem?
is there a better solution?

write logicsheet

2002-06-12 Thread Christoph Stocker

hi!

anyone knows how to write a logicsheet and how
to install it - so that i can use it in my xsp-site?

i know, that i have to do some settings in the cocoon.xconf
and to write something like this --

builtin-logicsheet
   parameter name=prefix value=xsp-request/
   parameter name=uri value=http://apache.org/xsp/request/2.0/
   parameter name=href
value=resource://org/apache/cocoon/components/language/markup/xsp/java/
request.xsl/
/builtin-logicsheet

but what does these parameters are for? how will changes to these
parameters affect cocoon?

are there more parameters?

maybe, someone have links to sites, explaining to to this.

define elements.xsl

2002-06-12 Thread Christoph Stocker

hi!

i have a test.xsp and a test.xsl and a elements.xsl

i use tags like input, span, div, in my XSP-page.
so i write a elements.xsl which defines these tags like (i put
the elements.xsl also as attachement) --

xsl:template match=div
div
xsl:if test=@id!=''
xsl:attribute name=idxsl:value-of
select=@id//xsl:attribute
/xsl:if
xsl:if test=@class!=''
xsl:attribute name=classxsl:value-of
select=@class//xsl:attribute
/xsl:if
xsl:if test=@style!=''
xsl:attribute name=stylexsl:value-of
select=@style//xsl:attribute
/xsl:if

  xsl:apply-templates/

/div
/xsl:template

i import these elements.xsl in the testxsl, so all my
tags in the xsp-site are defined.

is there a possibility to write down this in a logicsheet, so that i
have not to import the elements.xsl in the test.xsl and define the
logicsheet in the xsp-page?

i tried the logicsheet (mylogic.xsl) at
http://www.cocooncenter.de/cc/documents/resources/logicsheet/filelist.ht
ml
it works fine - i want to add a template given above for div --
but this doesn't work (no div is written out to my page.

what's wrong with my logicsheet.

Change the stylesheet in handle-errors/.
handle-errors/ is a normal Cocoon pipeline, only with a fixed
generator.

This is a question about XSLT.

Just match the root tag and put the output page in it.

hi!

we work on a project for the TELEKOM AUSTRIA. the first time we
implement our project was on weblogic6.0sp2, cocoon2.0.2 and WindowsNT.
and everything seemed to working fine.

now we wanted to test the web-application on a hp-unix with the same
environment (weblogic6.02, cocoon2.0.2). but it seems, that it's not
working... now, i am just before to give it up

the following steps i made:

1.step: i downloaded the binary (cocoon2.0.2) for unix form the
  apache-site. i unziped the file on my WinNT machine.

2.step: i got the files from the cocoon.war and unziped them into
  a diroctory called cocoon (this i have done on my WinNT-machine -
because
  i don't know the command to unzip a *.war-file).

3.step: i copied the cocoon-directory on the hp-unix machine into the
directory
  directory-to-weblogic/config/mydomain/application

4.step: i did the setting for Headless UNIX and PJA described in the
  cocoon-install-manual

5.step: i did the entry in the config.xml and set the classpath for
the files
  xercesImpl-2.0.0.jar and xml-apis.jar which are in the WEB-INF/lib
directory in the
  cocoon-directory.

6.step: i start the startWebLogic.sh (server is running on port 8001 for

Hi Christoph,

Set encodingISO-8859-1/encoding for serialiser in sitemap. By the
way, you can use such characters with UTF-8 also. It's just necessary to
store the XML document as Unicode.

the xsp:page tag

2002-06-03 Thread Christoph Stocker

hi all!

i use cocoon2.0.2 with weblogic6.0sp2 on win2000

if i use some xsp-sites in weblogic they dont't
work (i get a language exception). but they run
with tomcat4.0.1.

!-- works with tomcat4.0.1 but not with weblogic --
xsp:page
  language=java
  xmlns:xsp=http://apache.org/xsp;
  xmlns:xsp-request=http://apache.org/xsp/request/2.0;
  xmlns:log=http://apache.org/xsp/log/2.0;
  xmlns:capture=http://apache.org/cocoon/capture/1.0;

so i modify the xsp:page tag in my xsp-site to something
i copied from the cocoon-examples, and it is working. but i dont't
know exactly what i am changing in the xsp:page tag.

!-- works with tomcat4.0.1 and with weblogic
 copied from employee.xsp from the
 cocoon\docs\samples\forms directory --
xsp:page
  language=java
  xmlns:xsp=http://apache.org/xsp;
  xmlns:esql=http://apache.org/cocoon/SQL/v2;

can anyone explain me, what the statements in this tags
are for and what they mean?

why my example works with tomcat and not with wblogic?
why i have to change my xsp:page tag, that they work
with weblogic?

sorry for my newby question
greetings, chris

Include external javascript file

Subject: RE: Include external javascript file

Because it's cleaner :)

The thing you must remember is that ANAY request tht start with /cocoon/
is sent to COCOON. If in cocoon/myapp/index.html (wich is generated by
cocoon), you have a relative link myscript.js, the browser will ask
the web server for cocoon/myapp/myscript.js. The server know that all
cocoon/** url are handle by cocoon, so it ask Cocoon (the servlet) for
myapp/myscript.js, because it doesn't know that myapp/script.js must
be processed differently from myapp/index.html.

So what you must do is have a cocoon pipeline that match *.js and send
(via a reader) the .js file. Since you want it to be clean, you put all
the .js's in a myapp/js directory.

Now you understood, you can do the same for *.gif, *.bmp, *.doc, ...

Another way to serve .js is to use an URL wich is out of the /cocoon/*
path (ex : use an absolute path to http://myserver/js/toto.js, so cocoon
won't be concerned by the request)

hope it's clearer (i doubt :)

fabien.

I have a silly question,
Why do we put {1}.js in js/{1}.js ?

You must add a pipeline for every filetype you wish to call in your
application.

Put your *.js files in the js directory and add the
following to your
pipelines

   map:match pattern=*.js
 map:read src=js/{1}.js mime-type=text/javascript/
   /map:match

Now you can call any external javascript file directly, but it will be
served from the js directory.
Adjust to your liking.

A cocoon newbie question:

into my xsl stylesheet.

I have the following in the xsl stylesheet:

head

script  src=cold_reverse_script.js language=javascript /script

/head

The file cold_reverse_script.js is in the same directory as the xsl
stylesheet contains javascript code for a single function:

--

--

function cold_reverse_search_criteria() {

javascript code .

 }
--

---

I have this entry in my sitemap:
map:match pattern=**.js
 map:read src={1}.js mime-type=text/jscript/ /map:match

(I've also tried text/javascript).

However, this does not work. I get error on page whenever I try to
access the javascript function from the .js file. When I
look at the
source for the HTML page in the browser, it shows
script  src=cold_reverse_script.js language=javascript
/script
just as I've written it in the xsl file, but does not show the code
that
is in the .js file.

If I put the javascript function code directly into the
script/script
tags, it works fine, but I'd like to use the external .js file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
