I am actually quite confused about why the Code4Lib community is acting so
annoyed by this topic. I am totally ignorant of the background here. Is the
frustration with the topic itself or with this person?

In the spirit of talking strategies, what do you see as effective strategies

Re: [CODE4LIB] Internal Statistics Dashboard Recommendations?

2019-06-26 Thread Forrest, Stuart
We don't have a public facing Dashboard only an internal staff one. For this I
use the Plotly Dash open source libraries that integrate with python or R. My
preference is python and they have some pretty good components.

Our public dashboard is at

 - data comes from various APIs, and PHP code is at
https://github.com/LincolnUniLTL/LTLstats

(Layout is a perpetual headache. If anyone can think of a way to make the
elements rearrange themselves according to how big they are and how much space
is available, using javascript, I'd be very happy. My attempts so far have been
worse than just not. Simply lining them all up grid-style doesn't help because
they're variable heights.)

There are some tweaks to be made and text to be added, but this is our public
dashboard:

https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fdashboard.library.yorku.ca%2f=E,1,9qCkoe6hXUgqHi5oGtT62Qw0TXLDKdpHeAK5njVTds6j1pwQTuqKfJuBi7gEXfaVkY4s61h6m5gPGi7a3o2tZaG66i4BjTa6RxnF1oDb_63ZwKeal4pUTPx4Hmpc=1

It's done in R with Shiny, and the code is here:

https://github.com/yorkulibraries/dashyul/

Anyone who knows some R and some web development will find Shiny very nice to
work with. I really like it.

[CODE4LIB] ReadingRecord

2018-03-14 Thread Forrest, Stuart
Hi

Does anyone use or has used ReadingRecord for summer reading? I am trying to
install it locally but have run into a problem and hoping someone can help.

The patron registration part works well but when I try to login to the staff
side nothing happens. The login fields disappear and that is all.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Is it really necessary for this list to affirm that it stands by diversity? I
have not encountered any negativity on this email list myself. Are others
experiencing this? I am saddened to think that others are experiencing hurtful
