Skokie Public Library seeks an experienced, innovative professional with a
strong understanding of online community building to be its new Virtual
Community Engagement Manager.

  
As a member of the senior management team, the Virtual Community Engagement
Manager will provide leadership and a vision for a newly formed department by
working alongside fellow managers and directing the work of the Content
Strategy Coordinator, Web Developer, and Production
Specialists. The primary responsibility will be to oversee
the Library's online presences, including the Library website and catalog,
social media channels, and additional websites managed by the Library. In
addition to contributing content for the Library's online presences, the
Virtual Community Engagement Manager will work with others to develop
strategies for content, visual design, and user research.

  
The successful candidate will have an MLS degree from an ALA-accredited
Library school or relevant work experience, 3-5 years of experience designing
and managing websites, a high-level understanding of popular social media
channels, proven project management skills, team-building experience, and
excellent communication skills.

  
Preferred qualifications include: Experience with and knowledge of HTML, CSS,
Python, Django; ability to use wireframing and other prototyping approaches
for website development; understanding of responsive web design, cross-browser
issues, best practices for user-interface design, and web and accessibility
standards.

This position is responsible for the administration and maintenance of all
Library desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
Responsibilities will include establishing and enforcing best practices, and
for managing all day-to-day desktop and device provisioning and maintenance
activities; these include MAC and PC imaging, workstation and device security,
software distribution and application management, patch management, and
maintaining asset inventories. This position will also provide Tier 2 help
desk support and, on occasion, Tier 1 support.

  
**Required education/experience:**

  * Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or a combination of 
education and equivalent experience
  * At least 3 years of related work experience
**Required skills:**  

  * In-depth knowledge of modern operating systems including Windows 7/8, Mac 
OSX, iOS, and Android
  * Experience with Microsoft domain technologies: Active Directory, Group 
Policy, DFS-N, WSUS, and KMS
  * Experience with Apple Remote Desktop and Apple Profile Manager
  * The ability to write scripts for Macs (shell and Applescript) and PCs (cmd, 
vbscript, powershell) for specific purposes (trigger events, install software, 
change computer settings/policies remotely)
  * Experience managing hardware/software in a public environment
  * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  * Ability to work independently, under deadlines, with minimal supervision
  * Quality-focused with a positive customer service and team attitude
  * Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
**Preferred skills:**

  * Experience working in a dual authentication environment (Active Directory 
and Open Directory)
  * Experience with Windows zero/lite touch deployment strategies
  * Experience with VDI, Terminal Services, UEM, and application virtualization
  * Experience with client management tools such as SCCM, Kace, Altirs, etc.
  * Experience with packaging applications for delivery to Macs, using ARD
  * Experience with EMM technologies for BYOD, such as MDM and MAM
  * Experience with Adobe CS suite, video editing, and audio production
**Duties and responsibilities:**  

  * Build, support, and maintain the infrastructures required to manage 
Windows, OSX, and iOS desktops and devices
  * Automate and manage the deployment of all desktop and device operating 
systems
  * Perform regular patch management to all platforms
  * Maintain desktop and device security
  * Research, analyze, and recommend desktop and device software and hardware 
purchases
  * Provide Tier 2 level helpdesk support
  * Work on projects as assigned
Physical requirements:

  * Strength to lift 50 lbs
  * Ability to troubleshoot and install equipment wherever necessary, including 
on the floor, under desks, overhead, etc.
Salary range: $44,700-$69,300
